The choice of a lighting source should be justified, or better - confirmed by the relevant regulatory documents. There are lighting standards that should be followed. But economy is also important, and in this matter, LED products prevail.

An important parameter of lighting sources is power consumption

When choosing lamps, you should adhere to a strict middle: do not harm your vision and the eyes of others, but also do not forget about energy consumption. Savings are best judged by a simple electrical calculation.

Figure 1: LED Bulbs
Figure 1: LED Bulbs

The power consumption of an LED lamp averages 12 watts. Moreover, such a lamp corresponds to a light source with a filament, the power of which is 120 watts. Exactly 10 times more.

Figure 2: Modern incandescent lamps

Accordingly, LED products will consume 288 W per day, and a lamp with a filament will consume 2.88 kW. Per month (for example - 30 days): LED - 8.64 kW, products with a filament - 86.4 kW. The difference is: 77.76 kW.

Of course, the calculation is rather primitive, because the light source will not work around the clock (unless it is some kind of shopping center). But this example is the best way to show what savings, without sacrificing quality, LED products have.

Effects on vision

Too much of the energy of an ordinary filament lamp is wasted in converting electricity into thermal energy. Hence the low efficiency. But one cannot be argued with - a continuous spectrum of lighting.

Because of this, incandescent lamps have a number of significant advantages:

  • Even with power surges, the luminous flux remains even, without flickering unpleasant to the eye.
  • Possess a full spectrum of colors, with no clear predominance of white or otherwise.
  • In terms of their quality, they are as close as possible to the natural light source - the sun.

LEDs have a slightly different luminous flux quality, and such lamps, during operation, emit pulsation, which seems to be imperceptible to the eye, but still perceived by a person in a negative direction. Therefore, LED light sources are considered harmful to the eyes, but many manufacturers of these products are trying to challenge such comments, and each new model receives additional electronic components to improve quality work.

What to choose: LED bulb or incandescent?

When choosing savings or your health, it is best to stay on the latter. It is best to install LED products in utility and household premises or outdoors, where a person does not spend much time. When choosing LEDs, preference should be given to recognized and proven manufacturers of electrical products, which have a sufficient number of positive reviews.

And incandescent lamps are suitable for living rooms, corridors, halls and nurseries. For greater savings, you can install not 10 lamps for each room, but, for example, stop at three, maximum five. This will be enough for a comfortable pastime.
