Designer Maria Pilipenko designed a small kopeck piece in a building built in 1934.

The customers wanted to preserve the authentic historical setting, but at the same time make the living space comfortable for the life of a modern person.

  • total area: 35 m²
  • Number of rooms: 2
  • Building type: house of the avant-garde period, built in 1934
  • Who lives here: for short-term rental
  • Budget: 1.4 - 3.5 million rubles
  • Authors of the project: designer Maria Pilipenko, creators of the project "1931" Alexander Dudnev and Konstantin Gudkov.

The creators of the "1931" project, dedicated to the architecture of the avant-garde, tried to preserve the historical appearance of the apartment as much as possible. Therefore, the layout was left original, the decoration had to be partially reconstructed, and the furniture was made to order according to pre-war sketches.

However, when recreating the interior of the avant-garde period, the owners wanted to avoid the "mothballs museum" effect. The entire life was reconstructed in such a way that the residents could travel back in time, but feel comfortable in terms of the usual modern functionality.

Living room

The color scheme, decoration, pattern of the parquet have again become the same as when the construction was completed 85 years ago. The shades of the walls were chosen from small fragments that survived.

To maintain authenticity, they made open wiring and selected bakelite switches and sockets.

A small seating area was located by the window in the living room. Chairs with a rotating round back were created from sketches from 1927.

A shelf was hung in the corner behind the supporting column, where the place as decoration was taken by the attributes of the avant-garde era - the original clock, books of the 20-30s, chess.

On the stool is a visual reconstruction of the radio dish. But now it can play music via USB too.

Bedroom

The bedroom was returned to a gray-pink tone, which looks relevant today.

The beds, also based on avant-garde designs from almost a century ago, are fitted with built-in pull-out shelves. They function as bedside tables.

The room is accentuated by textiles. Bedspread with a geometric pattern is made to order. The inspiration was the working drawings of the first avant-garde artists.

Kitchen

A small kitchen is one of the hallmarks of the interior of that time. The folding table was also matched.

The set is the result of the symbiosis between Margarete Schütte-Lichotzky's Frankfurt cuisine and Soviet life.

Bathroom

An authentic small sink was made for a tiny bathroom. We also managed to fit a compact shower enclosure here.
