On December 14, 2020, the long-awaited IKEA store opened in the Europolis shopping center in Moscow. IKEA turned out to be different from everyone else, and rather strange.
Previously, all IKEA stores were built outside the city and were organized according to the same principle: on the second floor there is a furniture exhibition, on the first floor there is a store and a warehouse. Buyers had to follow a labyrinthine path, sequentially going through all departments from the exhibition to the warehouse (but there were several aisles shortening the path).
Several years ago IKEA stores of "urban format" appeared without a warehouse, where you could buy only small things, and furniture and mattresses could only be ordered. There, too, the path that the buyer should follow was determined.
The first "city" IKEA with a warehouse in which there is no usual "buyer's path" was opened in Europolis. Fragments of the furniture exhibition can be found both on the first and second floors; from the entrance you can walk along one of three aisles. Some of the departments are located so that you can get into them from different sides, and some are strictly one behind the other. The result is confusion. I couldn't find the store's map, but I photographed the evacuation plan for the second floor. :)
All departments, except one, are quite complete and the assortment in them is the same as in IKEA country stores. For some reason, the lighting department suffered, to which a small corner was allocated in the new store. There are light bulbs and batteries, but very little else. For example, there are 80 models of table and work lamps on the website and in other stores. There are about a dozen of them in this Ikea. There are no lamps for furniture and kitchens at all. Of the four models of extension cords, only one with one outlet is available (if anyone does not know, IKEE extension cords are the best in terms of price-quality ratio in our market). There are no chandeliers, there are only a few pendant shades, there is not even the cheapest Melody.
I don't know why the department of light was so offended. Maybe over time it will be expanded somehow.
By the way, while checking the availability of goods on the site, there is no new store yet. Did not have time.
P.S. Sorry for the lack of photos from the store. Something I didn’t think yesterday that I would write about him, and didn’t shoot anything. :(
P.P.S. I bought all the new bulbs that are not on Lamptest. I will test it soon and post the results.
