In this article, I continue my selection of practical fences for flower beds and flower beds. These are not the cheapest options, but they are quite affordable for most gardeners.
1. Of stone
Natural stone is suitable not only for decorating flower beds, but also for creating fences. You can buy it at construction bases or in large gardening stores. It is not cheap, but practical and effective looking material. Natural stone fences are not afraid of the vagaries of the weather, physical damage and prolonged stagnation of moisture. Multiple gaps and slots help maintain normal water and air balance. The soil does not melt or overheat even on hot sunny days.
To create high fences, the masonry will have to be reinforced with cement mortar. Low fences will hold well even without a binder.
2. From concrete elements
For fencing flower beds and delimiting flower beds, you can use low concrete fences. They are easy to assemble without special tools and bonding solutions. The elements are attached to each other using the thorn-groove technology. Blocks are installed on even, well-drained, compacted soil.
Fences made of concrete elements are not afraid of the scorching sun, severe frosts and lingering rains. If necessary, they can always be moved to a new place and reassembled.
The main enemy of such fences is soft, unstable soil. After spring floods, fences can fall apart and lose their decorative appearance. For strengthening, the elements can be laid directly in the concrete solution. The fence will be strong but will lose its mobility.
3. Wrought iron
Wrought iron fences are expensive, but at the same time practical and effective option for flower beds of any size. They come in many different types, shapes and sizes. If desired and available on a budget, fences can be made to order. Products will cost several times more expensive than serial counterparts and will become a real highlight of any garden.
Such fences have been purchased for more than a dozen years. They are not at all afraid of damage, practically do not corrode and are firmly installed in any type of soil.
The main disadvantage of such fences is the high cost and the impossibility of creating a high flower bed. There is also a risk that in winter they can be simply stolen from an unguarded territory. Such precedents have already happened.
4. From bamboo sticks
An unusual, but at the same time quite viable option is a fence made of small bamboo sticks. These can be purchased in a specialized store, or can be found on classifieds sites already with a markdown. They are sometimes sold after dismantling the interiors of restaurants or private houses.
Bamboo can be easily cut with a metal saw. The cut is neat and usable without additional processing. So that the fence does not lose its appearance for a long time, the material should be impregnated with a solution against decay, blackening and mold.
To create a fence, sticks of the required length are carefully hammered into the ground. In order not to break even edges, it is better to strike through the board. The rope, which runs through the entire fence, is a decorative element and practically does not affect the strength of the structure. The fence can be made without it.
5. From metal forms
For those who do not want to waste time building fences, ready-made structures are available for sale. It is enough to simply put them in place of the future flower beds and fill them with fertile soil. You don't have to collect or buy anything, everything you need is supplied with the product.
The metal from which the fences are made is treated with multi-layer protection against corrosion and minor damage. With careful handling and a solid coating, these beds will last for more than a dozen years.
