In both cases, the plant begins to feel a deficiency of nutrients, which affects the quality and quantity of the crop.
In addition, there is an opinion that feeding cucumbers before harvest should be stopped to preserve the quality of the fruit. The addition of potassium sulfate, superphosphate, urea and other unnatural components turn "home" cucumbers into "purchased" ones. And there is some truth in this. During the fruiting period, one should really abandon the introduction and treatment of plants with chemistry. However, this does not mean that you need to forget about feeding.
There are separate natural dressings for fertilizing cucumbers during fruiting. They do not accumulate in plant tissues and help plants to form high-quality fruits.
In this article I want to talk about one of these feedings. It is easy to prepare and use, which is very important at the end of the season, when general fatigue has already accumulated from working in the garden.
To prepare top dressing, dilute 1 cup of cow's milk in a ten-liter bucket of water, mix thoroughly and use as watering every two weeks until the end of fruiting. Milk contains a lot of potassium, which is involved in the formation of fruits. In addition, an aqueous solution of milk activates the reproduction of beneficial microorganisms. Such feeding will help increase the yield by 1.5 times. You can start watering cucumbers from the end of July.
An important addition to top dressing is surface loosening of the soil. The procedure will avoid the appearance of a crust on the surface of the soil, improving absorption and air exchange.
