Made a high-precision welder for polypropylene from a square pipe, a gas torch and fastened everything with self-tapping screws

Homemade product masterfully assembled on the "knee" for three hours in the garage, but on board has an accurate autonomous thermometer. In the absence of electricity, polypropylene can be soldered without problems. Without violating the temperature regime of the welding process.

The advantages of my welder

  • Autonomy, does not require electricity.
  • Mobility, work without wires.
  • Heating accuracy. The installed thermometer allows you to know the exact temperature on the nozzles for high-quality welding of fittings and pipes.
  • Ease of assembly, no welding with parts
  • You can warm tea or fry a sausage over the fire

Build process

We need:

  • Thermometer capable of measuring from -50 to 1300 degrees Celsius. It is easy to order it on Ali express, link at the end of the article.

  • Throwing trash found in the garage.
  • Self-tapping screws.
  • Gas burner with auto-ignition.

The gas burner has its own design, so we adapt the homemade product to it. I couldn’t think of anything better how to make an incision at the bend points of the profile pipe and give the required shape. The assembly process is clearly visible in the photographs.

It was decided to bolt the heated part, the nozzle-platform for the nozzles, to the upper part of the pipe adjacent to the cylinder. We drill, mount bolts, admire diavem.

We fasten the bent pipe with corners and seeds.

We install an asbestos gasket between the nozzle and the base so that the heating of the handle with the balloon is minimal.

For a gas cylinder, you need to come up with fasteners, a part from the computer case dangled under your feet, we screw it with a self-tapping screw to the base. With its help we will "hug" the can and tighten it with a bolt and a wing nut.

I made the first start-up of the burner in a profile pipe, I decide to cut off a part of the extra pipe.

For the thermometer I made an improvised seat on the stand. I made a hole for the pipe soldering nozzle. I laid the thermometer wire. During the test, it turned out that the best place for the tip of the "thermocouple" would be the tip itself.

The process of work, we start the burner at full power, when the temperature reaches 200 degrees Celsius. reduce the flame to minimum values. In the range of 250-280 gr.s it is possible to weld pipes. Without fears that you can overheat or not heat up the soldered parts of the pipeline.

Cons of homemade products

  • An open burner flame is not safe.
  • Bulky.
  • Heavy.

I am sure that such an idea can help in those places where there is no electricity and it is necessary to assemble a pipeline. The welder is assembled in haste, in three hours, in order to show the idea to the readers. He did not pursue any aesthetic goals. As they say:

"for the idea five, and for the execution two".

You can copy and paste this expression in the comments. If you think so.

While doing this "prybludu" the idea arose to make a structure based on polypropylene. Make? WELL NO. waiting for an answer.

I almost forgot. A link to a thermometer that can measure very high temperatures - here.
