I insulate the garage with polyethylene from the inside. I figured out how to lazily fix it to the walls and ceiling with foam

Hello friend, I decided to insulate the garage with polyethylene from the inside. But the trouble is, the very material that I want to apply is very poorly glued. It can be attached mechanically. With a stapler if the roof is wooden. Or fungi if the ceiling is concrete, but in this case it will be necessary to drill "a thousand" holes. I'm lazy, this is not for me. I am looking for easy ways, therefore, having spread my "brains" I experiment. And I use the experience of an experienced builder, who at one time shared the secret of how to glue materials that do not adhere well.

Foamed polyethylene
Foamed polyethylene

The experimental material is polyethylene foam, it keeps heat well due to air bubbles inside, cheap and affordable, so the choice fell on it. I used foam glue for gluing. It adheres well to materials and does not swell like regular polyurethane foam.

Experiment

Glued small pieces of polyethylene foam to the ceiling, check how it keeps from the macroflex.

To my disappointment, the foam adhered well to concrete, but adhered poorly to polyethylene due to its very smooth surface. It came off with a slight flick of a finger.

Way out

In order for polyethylene to interact well with glue, it was decided to sand its surface with a sandpaper.

Thus, air bubbles inside the polyethylene open, the surface becomes rough. The adhesion area is increased. Foam fills these bubbles and holds the material tightly.

When trying to peel off the foamed polyethylene treated with sandpaper, it breaks due to the fact that it is tightly glued.

It can only be torn off by walking with a chisel.

Advice from a seasoned builder

If the material does not adhere well, then it must be passed with a sandpaper, thereby increasing the area of adhesion and adhesion.

Sure the secret of an experienced builder deserves a like! Thank you.
