Hi friends, I was recently in the apartment on request. There was a complaint that they, lately, have not been working for a long time. The apartment is rented, tenants live. They invited me, a plumber (I also perform the functions of a controller), to find out the reasons for periodic breakdowns of water meters. The survey showed that there were no intentional impacts on the flow meters. But...
I'll show you metering devices right away:
As you can see, they are positioned as usual. Central water supply riser, outlet, shut-off valves, filter and meter. But besides this, the wiring from the water heater runs next to the measuring device.
The black wire of the storage water heater is connected to the white wire. The curl was out of frame. In addition, for some reason, after the repair of the water heater, the lid with bare wires was not closed. Apparently they love the thrill in the bathroom.
Okay, repairing a flow-through boiler is a master's business. I suggest you once again take a close look at the metering devices. Don't you notice anything strange? Which can lead to a slowdown of the water meters and the failure of the latter.
From these photos, I made certain conclusions and removed the wiring away from the water meters. I explained to the owners and temporary tenants why the wires should not be left next to the measuring devices, and I will tell you too:
In water meters, magnets are used to transfer rotation from the impeller to the counting mechanism. If they are exposed to an external magnetic field, then the devices begin to work poorly and eventually break. A wire wound as in the photo creates a magnetic field when voltage is applied through them, to power electrical appliances, a water heater, in our case, an "inductance coil" is created. It can demagnetize the meter. And in the end to break it, what happened to these tenants. Also, such winding can damage the anti-magnetic sticker, remove the wires from your water meters. Let the counters last longer.
