Hello dear friends!

Last summer, I wanted to make decorative balls of sand and cement on the site of a country house. I took it and did it. The result is a very interesting decor for the garden, it looks unusual and attracts attention. They are made very simply, expensive materials are not needed.

For making balls I used:

· Rubber inflatable balls of different sizes;

· Unnecessary rags (cotton is better);

· Cement brand m400;

· Sifted sand;

· A little plaster-based putty (optional);

· Rubber gloves;

· Capacity for mixing the solution;

· Cling film.

Balls have long been bought on the market where they sell children's toys. They are in size: small about 30 cm in diameter, and large about 80 cm or a little more.

Step 1.

To prevent the balls from rolling, I put them on the cups in which I put the stones. Wrapped with cling film, so that later they could be removed.

Step 2.

Tore the cotton rags into small pieces. Do not use synthetics, they do not absorb moisture well.

Step 3.

He poured water into a basin and added a few scoops of cement and stirred. It turned out like liquid sour cream.

Step 4.

He began to moisten rags in the solution and wrap balls with them. 1 layer is enough. Covered part of the ball, then turned it over and covered it completely.

I did the same with a small ball.

Step 5.

The heat was about 35 degrees outside, so after 3-4 hours I began to apply the next layer.

I poured 2 parts of sand and 1 part of cement into the basin, added a little putty. The putty gives the mortar elasticity and is more convenient to work with. But you can do without it.

Mix everything dry and add water. The solution was made of medium thickness.

Step 6.

I slightly moistened the balls with water and began to apply a solution to them. The thickness of the applied solution is about 1-1.5 cm.

Step 7.

After 2 hours, a second coat was applied. It has already been made thinner. The applied layer is about 5 mm. This is the finishing layer with which I finished all the irregularities and smoothed out the balls.

Step 8.

It's been 24 hours. The mortar has set well, but is not completely dry yet. He blew out and pulled out the rubber balls from captivity.

Step 9.

I cut off the uneven edges, moistened them and smeared them with the same solution until they were normal. Left to dry for another 24 hours.

The balls are ready.

The balls turned out to be very strong, after a few days, when the cement gained strength, I climbed onto a large ball and nothing happened to it, then my weight was 75 kg.

On YouTube, under this video, they wrote that it was necessary to paint them, I personally like their natural color.

For the winter they were left right on the site, they have already passed the test of rain, snow and frost. Nothing cracked, broke or sour. Most likely they will easily stand until the summer, and then we'll see how they feel.
