Hello dear readers and guests of the channel!
It's been a long time since I wrote an article about vases, or rather about the decor of vases. Today I want to show you how we decorated a simple, unremarkable vase in mixed media. The vase is so attractive that it immediately attracts attention at first sight.
For decoration we used:
· Ceramic vase;
· Alcohol;
· PVA glue and hot glue;
· Bandage;
· Floristic grid;
· Pieces of tulle;
· Lace;
· Metal openwork parts from an old bag;
· Artificial flowers and leaves;
· Beads on a string;
· Acrylic paints;
· Acrylic lacquer.
The decor is not complicated, but special attention should be paid to painting the vase. There are many different colors.
A little tip: we do not use acrylic paint of different colors for multi-color painting of crafts. It turns out cheaper and easier if you mix acrylic varnish or white paint with the desired colors.
Step 1.
Wipe the vase with rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover.
Step 2.
We glue the vase with bandages. Convenient to glue on thick PVA glue. It is not necessary to glue exactly, you can hit it at random, with an overlap or leaving small non-glued areas.
Leave to dry for 20 minutes.
Step 3.
We glue pieces of tulle, floral mesh and lace. On the same PVA glue. Leave to dry for several hours.
Step 4.
We glue metal parts, flowers and leaves with hot glue, composing a composition at our discretion.
Step 5.
We glue the beads on a string.
Step 6.
Now for the fun part, painting the vase.
With the first layer, paint the entire vase with black acrylic paint and leave it to dry for 1-2 hours.
Now apply the white paint using the dry brush method.
The "dry brush" method is when the brush is dipped lightly into the paint, wipes it on a napkin or newspaper and paints with an almost dry brush.
Now paint some parts of the vase with lilac paint, using the same dry brush method. And paint some elements with a dirty pink color.
Mixing all these colors on the newspaper one by one, apply to random areas of the vase. The main thing is not to overdo it with only one color, you should get transitions from one color to another.
This painting technique is not entirely simple, it may not work the first time. The technique is called Mix Media. If you're interested, you can watch YouTube for more detailed tutorials on this technique.
Step 7.
We cover the vase with acrylic varnish.
The vase is ready.
