Hello dear readers!
A while ago, I was spending Coca-Cola rust removal experiment. Nothing good came of this, but I was convinced that this method should not be taken into account.
Today I decided to try 2 options for removing rust, which, as it turned out, work great. Both options are the simplest and in any kitchen, and in the first aid kit there are always these components for everyone at home.
You will need:
· Hydrogen peroxide 3%;
· Vinegar essence 80%;
· Lemon acid;
· Food salt;
· Baking soda;
· Containers for mixing.
All of these components are very cheap and are almost always found in any home.
I found such rusty metal objects in the garage, and I will remove them from them. The metal is different, the degree of rust is also different.
First option.
I poured 200 ml of hydrogen peroxide into a plastic cup. Poured 60 grams of citric acid and stirred well until completely dissolved.
I added 2 teaspoons (about 10-12 grams) of fine salt to the solution and mixed well too.
I put rusty objects in the solution and waited.
After 5 minutes, a reaction began, bubbles began to flow from the metal and the liquid began to darken.
He covered the cup with a plastic bag, tightened it with an elastic band and put it on the ventilated balcony. It is imperative to pierce a hole in the bag so that the gas comes out. Do not leave all this indoors while the reaction is going on and gas with a not very pleasant smell is released.
After 1 hour, a very violent reaction began. The liquid is actively bubbling and quite hot. I'll leave it for a few hours until the reaction ends.
3 hours have passed, the reaction has stopped, you can rinse the items. I poured some water into the container, poured a few tablespoons of baking soda and washed and cleaned metal objects in this alkaline water.
As for me, an excellent result in 3 hours. Even the most ingrained rust is gone from the metal. The metal itself darkened a little, but it's not scary.
Second option.
I put rusty objects in a tightly closed container and filled it with vinegar essence. The container was tightly closed and taken out onto a ventilated balcony.
An hour later, the vinegar began to change color, but there was no such reaction as with the first mixture.
In vinegar, rust leaves much more slowly, so it left for another day.
After 24 hours, the items were washed in the same alkaline water that remained after the first time.
After vinegar, it is necessary to remove excess acid from the metal, as in the first option.
The vinegar did a good job on rust, too, but not perfect. Firstly, it was much longer and secondly, the rust was not removed by 100%, a little remained.
Watch the video, it clearly shows the reaction from the first line-up:
My opinion:
Both ways are very cheap, working. The first method works faster and more reliably, but if a lot of time, then the second method with vinegar can be used.
