Hello dear friends!

Happy New Year 2020! May all your dreams come true in the new year!

Today I wanted to write how we gave new life to an old desk mirror with a leg. Bought it at a flea market literally for a penny. It is a little rusty, the paint is crumbling in places, but otherwise an excellent mirror, the main glass is in good condition.

The mirror is quite heavy, the frame is apparently made of what metal. Very stable and comfortable. And also for such a price, 30 rubles, how can you pass by!

Now superstitious personalities will come running, with comments that it is impossible to carry old mirrors into the house, which it is not clear what they have seen! We are not superstitious, and we do not believe in such nonsense.

In general, if you are interested in what we got, then enjoy your reading and viewing!

For work, we used:

· Sandpaper;

· Solvent;

· Acrylic paints;

· Eggshell;

· PVA glue;

· Decoupage napkin;

· Acrylic lacquer.

Step 1.

Sandpaper was used to clean off all the crumbling paint and rust that appeared in places.

Step 2.

The mirror was carefully wiped with solvent to degrease and remove all dust after sanding.

Step 3.

White acrylic paint was painted 2 times with an interval of 1 hour between coats.

Step 4.

Eggshells were glued onto the mirror with PVA glue. In some places they glued the shell, finely crushed into crumbs.

In order to use the shell, and so that it holds well and does not stink afterwards, it must be prepared for work. Soak the shell in warm water for 1-2 hours, then remove all films from the inside and dry the shell. She is ready to go in an hour. If you remove not all layers, but their 2-3 layers, then the shell over time may begin to smell unpleasant.

Step 5.

After gluing the shell, they waited about 2 hours and a layer of PVA glue was applied on top. Left to dry overnight.

Step 6.

The shell was painted with white acrylic paint 2 times, if the shell is white, then 1 layer of paint is enough.

Step 7.

After that, fragments of a decoupage napkin were glued to the mirror.

Step 8.

The shells were painted with a pale lilac color.

Step 9.

Covered the entire mirror with acrylic varnish.

Done!

It turned out to be a nice mirror that can still be used for a very long time.
