Now you need to figure out the options for the shape and design of the sink. And there are a lot of these options.
In form, they can be:
- oval;
- round;
- square;
- rectangular;
- trapezoidal.
The number of bowls can vary from one to five, they will all have different depths and volumes. The most common sinks are with two bowls. Housewives use one for washing dishes, and the other for processing food, defrosting meat.
Almost all kitchen sinks have a wing - an additional corrugated surface, sometimes with its own drain. It is convenient to dry dishes on it.

When choosing a sink, be sure to specify how many drain holes there are in it, whether it will be possible to install a chopper and an auto drain valve.
Installation
Overhead sink models are installed on a special cabinet of the lower tier. This is a very simple installation method, but less popular than mortise.
The cut-in version of the sink has a special mounting board around the perimeter, on which, after cutting into the countertop, the sink will be held. This option is more difficult to install, but its installation is quite within the power of those who know how to use power tools.
Instructions for inserting a sink with your own hands into a chipboard worktop:
- we decide on the place in the countertop where we will embed the sink;
- place the template (sold with the sink) on the countertop and trace with a pencil (if included there was no template, then make it out of cardboard, it should be less than the sink by the width of the mounting flange);
- drill with a drill 8-10 mm in diameter a hole in the countertop next to the drawn contour, but closer to the center;
- insert a jigsaw file into the resulting hole;
- cut a hole for the sink in the countertop with a jigsaw;
- glue the seal from the kit on the installation board of the sink (if there is no seal in the kit, you must purchase it);
- the sink is installed in the hole and slightly (not completely) tightened with the fasteners from the kit;
- then it is necessary to carefully treat the seam with silicone sealant;
- then tighten the fasteners completely (diagonally);
- then remove the protruding sealant.

Council. For the convenience of working with a jigsaw, avoiding distortion and breakage of the files, temporarily fix the inner part of the intended cut-out of the tabletop, preventing it from falling out inside. This can be done using metal plates, which are screwed to the inside of the intended cutout with self-tapping screws, as shown in the photo.
