You can approach this task responsibly and completely remodel your kitchen from floor to ceiling. But there is another way to get by with little money. Which one to choose is up to you.

A solid approach

Whether you are just building your house or starting to decorate a new apartment, you have the opportunity to create a kitchen interior in the Spanish style "inside and out."

Let's start by shaping the space for the kitchen.

Forms and materials

One of the most recognizable features of Spanish cuisine is the large freestanding island worktop with a sink located in the center of the room.

Therefore, it should be quite spacious, because the dining table, as a rule, should also be here. However, if you have space for a separate dining room in your home, that's fine.

So, everything is clear with the size of the room, let's talk about its structure.

What can you do to give it a southern flavor?

  • Arrange arches. It can be not only arched openings for doors and windows, but also niches in the wall, in which you can then make shelves for kitchen utensils with your own hands. A decorative arch can be used to separate the dining area from the cooking area.

Arches are a striking sign of the Mediterranean style

  • Build a Spanish style fireplace. If you have carefully watched the old Spanish video films, then you probably noticed that this hearth is most often a niche in the wall with an arched vault and a chimney resting on the ceiling.
  • Decorate the ceiling with deliberately rough dark colored wooden beams. The ceiling itself can be either whitewashed or sheathed with wooden boards.
  • Lay out one of the walls with a stone. Cover the rest of the walls with light pastel plaster.

Such an emphasis, even with modern kitchen appliances, will remind you that the Spaniards belong to a fairly ancient civilization.

  • Lay on the floor large natural stone-like floor tiles - deliberately rough, textured, with wide joints between the individual tiles.

Note. You can use another option for flooring - a dark solid board or wood-effect tiles.

Situation

Looking at the photos of kitchens in the Spanish style, you probably already noticed that all the furniture, even in modern interiors, is made of natural wood.

Moreover, it is predominantly dark in color, with wide panels or carvings. A special charm is given to it by a touch of antiquity.

Such kitchen sets today can be bought or made to order, however, they are not cheap. Especially if you do not deviate from the style and make a countertop made of natural stone.

Council. A worktop lined with marbled porcelain stoneware or ceramic tiles with Spanish patterns also has a right to exist in such a kitchen.

Let's briefly talk about the rest of the furnishings of Spanish cuisine.

  • Dinner table - wooden, massive, square or rectangular.
  • Chairs - with high and straight backs.
  • Kitchen appliances - stainless steel. White or colored enamel rarely fits into such kitchens.

It is not necessary to look for “antique” equipment, modern models will also fit well into the interior

  • Washing - any shape, but preferably copper or stone. A copper or bronze faucet is perfect for this.
  • Hood - domed, decorated with wood trim in the color of the furniture.

The final touch will be open wooden shelves for dishes, lamps and chandeliers with forging elements.

Decorating techniques

We deliberately left out the topic of kitchen decoration in the previous chapter. You will learn about it by reading this.

It talks about how to turn an existing interior into a "Spanish" one without much expense and global renovation.

First, a little tutorial to help you create the foundation.

  1. If you already have kitchen furniture, you will have to “adjust” it a little to the desired style. To do this, it can be covered with a dark stain and lightly rubbed with a sandpaper to create an antique effect. Remove fronts from some of the cabinets, leaving the shelves open. Top modules can generally be replaced with wooden shelves.

Important. All this is possible only with solid wood furniture. Modern glossy headsets are unlikely to fit into such an interior.

  1. If you have an old "grandmother's" sideboard, it can become the main accent in the interior.

The entire kitchen set can consist of different pieces of furniture

  1. Beams on the ceiling can be made decorative - from boards knocked down by a box.
  2. You will have to remove the floral wallpaper and simply paint the walls in a calm neutral color.
  3. Replace the lamps - they should be massive, rough, with decorative metal elements.

Now you can start decorating.

  • Add rich colors to the interior - green, orange, yellow, blue. This can be dishes, cushions for chairs, painting on a kitchen apron.

The main decoration is colored dishes

  • Place forged candlesticks, jewelry made of wood, metal and leather, and clay jugs on the shelves.
  • Place colored rugs or a Spanish-style rug on the floor.
  • Indoor plants with fleshy leaves or cacti will complement the interior.

The price of such an alteration will be much lower than in the first case. Perhaps the effect will not be so impressive, but the Spanish style is so good that it does not require strict compliance with a certain concept.

Outcome

The Spanish style is perfect for people who want to create a warm and relaxed atmosphere in their kitchen.

To do this, do not limit your imagination and do not put rigid boundaries in front of yourself. You should feel good and comfortable in the interior you created.
