To achieve the effect of antiquity, you can use ordinary finishing paints, the price of which is not high, in their different tonal combinations.

It is best to purchase acrylic compounds that have a metallic tint.

1. First, apply the base color to the piece of furniture to be decorated. It will be the base for patination operation.
2. When the base coat is ready, give it time to dry.
3. Next, take a contrasting composition or metallic paint (gold, silver, copper). With a semi-dry brush, work through the selected areas, as well as protruding elements and edges of the furniture, for a patina effect.

Special varnishes

You can also create light kitchens with patina using special varnishes. Such patinating formulations are a transparent, amber-colored fatty substance with a violet-burgundy hue. The varnish gives the surface of the object a dark golden tone.

At the same time, it forms a strong and smooth film.

1. The patinating composition can be used both independently and in conjunction with a craquelure analogue.
2. In the latter case, the material is covered with a network of fine cracks, which are characteristic of the surface of old paintings.
3. After treatment of cracks with a contrasting composition, the craquelure varnish is washed off with a stream of water or covered with another layer of a patinated analogue.
4. The top layer of varnish protects fragile cracks and gives furniture an even more antique look.

When to choose a light design
