Good afternoon, my reader. Grafting is a standard procedure used to propagate varietal trees (shrubs). However, not all summer residents know that this method can be used to increase the decorative effect, the yield of some crops, or to grow some unique plant.

Fruit trees with fruits of different varieties

Grafts, due to which trees with different fruits are obtained, are usually used when it is not possible to plant a large orchard. The most suitable for the stock in this case are a young apple or quince.

But on a pear, for example, it is advisable to graft this particular culture, since other fruit plants do not take root well on it. Choosing a quince or an apple tree as a stock, 3-5 cuttings of different varieties are grafted onto them. A tree with apples of different colors and shapes looks unusual, and the fruits may have different ripening times.

Young trees no older than 2-3 years are chosen for the stock, and one-year-old shoots are used as a scion. Otherwise, the vaccine may not take root. The apple tree on which pears ripen is very popular. Despite the fact that it looks unusual, it is easy for summer residents to harvest crops from such a tree. After all, the crown of apple trees is much lower, more compact.

An excellent result is obtained by grafting pear cuttings on ordinary and varietal mountain ash, irga, hawthorn and chokeberry. This "operation" improves the palatability of the fruit and makes the pear more cold-resistant.

The only drawback: these trees are short-lived, they bear fruit for no more than 8-10 years. For this reason, experts recommend replacing aging shoots with new ones. To do this, in mid-spring or summer, a pear is grafted by copulation (into a split) or by a kidney (into a T-shaped cut).

Shrubs on the trunk

Grafted trees of a fantastic look fascinate the views of inexperienced people. However, standard-shaped berry bushes look even more unusual. It is impossible to form such a crown using conventional pruning.

Such decorativeness can be achieved only by grafting. And since the yield after the "experiment" does not fall, and in some cases increases, the vaccination procedure becomes more popular every year.

To obtain a standard gooseberry bush or white, red, black currant, golden currant is used as a stock. A seedling of this culture can be purchased at the nursery or dug up in the forest area. Cuttings are harvested from autumn and stored until early spring, in order to combine the two plants using the improved copulation method.

Ablactation

This rapprochement inoculation is most often used to improve the varietal characteristics of tomatoes, cucumbers and melons. Although, with the help of ablactation, new varieties of young fruit bushes or trees can be obtained.

The process of splicing closely growing plants is a fairly simple procedure, but very rarely used. On two adjacent crops, oblique cuts are made on the trunks (shoots).

Then the plants are brought together so that the "tongues" at the grafting site are combined with each other. The junction is wrapped with a special dressing material. When two different cultures grow together, the scion is separated from the mother plant.

The mastered methods of grafting will help create a garden with unusual plants. Garden beds will also grow unprecedented vegetables of improved varieties.
