The result of the measures taken will be a ditch, completely liberated from the roots. Its depth should be at least 50 cm.

After cleaning the ditch, it is necessary to isolate the remaining roots. This will require several sheets galvanized metal. But the use of these materials unacceptable:
- Dense polyethylene. In three to four years, the film, even the densest, will crack. And it will not be difficult for the roots to break through it and sprout into the garden.
- Roofing material. This material also wears out after a few years.
- Slate. Also unreliable - may crack as a result of ground movement in spring.
To securely fix metal sheets in the ground, peg hooks are used. After the barrier is fixed, it is covered with soil and compacted. Remember to fold back the sharp top edges of the galvanized sheet before burying.
The pieces of old roots left in the ground will rot over time. With proper root isolation, your garden will no longer be attacked by new roots.
