Good afternoon, my reader. Lovers of their own tomatoes and cucumbers have already appreciated the benefits of growing these heat-loving crops in a greenhouse. But bulky structures are not always suitable for small areas.

A solution has been found - a greenhouse-bread bin is suitable for both small-area household plots and large farms where they like to experiment with growing different varieties of vegetables.
Why "breadbox"?
The convertible greenhouse got its name because of its similarity to the old Soviet breadbasket. Representatives of the older generation remember well that it was in such boxes that everyone kept bread and bakery products. They were comfortable, compact and easy to open.
So the greenhouse, which resembles such a storage in shape, also has a number of advantages over other types of greenhouses:
- The presence of a cover that opens from either side. Can be opened from both sides at once. The issue of its installation is solved, and the care of plants is facilitated.
- Compact and lightweight, so it can be easily rearranged to any area in your garden.
- Easy to assemble.
- It has the shape of a semicircle, so rainfall on the roof does not linger. This means that polycarbonate lasts longer.
- The small size of the greenhouse provides it with a low cost. In this case, the price does not affect the quality.
It is important to remember that a small greenhouse-bread bin is not suitable for all crops. Typical greenhouses are 2-4 m long and 1.5 m high.
They can grow low-growing vegetables: radishes, herbs (parsley, lettuce). They are also suitable for cultivating peppers. Tomatoes and cucumbers "live" in them until a certain period, since then they grow and require large areas.
Installation requirements
The greenhouse-bread bin is installed on a well-lit flat area.
Some gardeners prefer to place the structure without a foundation. This makes it possible for them to move it to another place if necessary without much difficulty.
They are installed on the foundation when the greenhouse is stationary:
- bricks, blocks or wooden structures are used as a basis;
- pre-dig a trench of those dimensions that correspond to the dimensions of the greenhouse;
- sand is placed on the bottom for stability;
- if the foundation is wooden, it is pre-treated with an anti-rot mixture and impregnated with a special solution. If brick or block - you can use concrete;
- After the foundation dries well, you can install the greenhouse frame and attach polycarbonate to it.
Self-manufacturing
The simplicity of the design leads some gardeners to think about making their own "bread box". On the Internet you can find numerous photo and video instructions for making one or another greenhouse-breadbasket. The course goes:
- Wood
Such structures must be constantly processed. Polyethylene is used as a covering material - it is also short-lived. Not very practical and stable.
- Metallic profile
Such a base is stronger and more durable, but it will not be possible to make it without the appropriate tools, equipment and certain skills. This requires minimal knowledge of welding or working with metal.
- Polyethylene pipes
A greenhouse made of plastic pipes will last longer than a wooden one, and it is easier to care for it. But manufacturing will require a special tool and minimal skills in working with polyethylene pipes.
A bread box greenhouse is a good greenhouse option for small plots and for those who do not grow vegetables on an industrial scale. If your case is "vegetables for yourself" - then the "bread box" is exactly what you need.
Do you use a greenhouse-bread bin in the country?
