Good afternoon, my reader. The greenhouse on the site will allow you to get an early harvest of various vegetable crops, grow heat-loving plants, flowers, seedlings. But its creation will have to spend a certain amount of effort and money.

Preparatory work for the creation of a greenhouse

Having decided on its future dimensions, you need to immediately decide what material will be used for the coating: glass, film, polycarbonate. Next, you need to think over the heating and ventilation system. After that, you can assemble the frame and mark the future beds and paths between them. If you plan to grow seedlings or plants in pots, racks are made.

Greenhouse heating

It can be done in several ways:

  • by connecting a gas heating system;
  • an autonomous stove, using firewood, coal, peat as fuel;
  • instagram viewer
  • electric heating devices with installation for forced injection of warm air;
  • boiler;
  • a device that collects solar energy (solar plant).

In addition, biofuels (manure, compost, sawdust) can be used for heating, which requires the construction of a special furnace for burning. You can also burn it just on the garden bed, after removing the top layer of earth at the burning site. Then the soil layer will need to be restored and leveled. It will be possible to plant plants in this place in a few days.

Heat saving

Conservation of thermal energy in the greenhouse is an equally important task. It is solved even at the stage of its design and construction - when installing doors and ventilation vents. It is also possible to retain heat by using natural heat accumulators, which are not a source of thermal energy, but are able to retain it for a relatively long time. These batteries include:

  • Ordinary water. It is used to fill buckets or other containers made of metal or plastic placed inside the greenhouse. During the day, the water in them will heat up, and after sunset it will cool for quite a long time, giving off heat. To enhance the effect of heat transfer, it is recommended to paint the containers black.
  • Large stones (cobblestones). They are laid out along the inner perimeter of the greenhouse or in free areas of the beds. Similar to water, during the day they heat up, and in the evening and at night, cooling down, they will give off heat. Heat guns can also be used for additional heating.

Placing beds and paths

It will depend on the size of the structure. For a small non-arched greenhouse, beds are made along one side. This can be one long bed (if you plan to plant one crop) or split into several. For example, 1.5 m in the center and meters to the left and right of it. The main thing is that then you can freely do weeding without stepping on them.

For an arched greenhouse, in any case, you will have to make two beds with a path between them. The width of the path is determined so that it is possible to walk along it with buckets or watering cans without touching the plants. Usually it is 50-70 cm. It will not be superfluous to lay them out with a non-slip hard coating, for example, a brick.

The beds should be raised relative to the paths. To prevent the soil from slipping onto the track, curbs are erected. For this, ordinary boards are suitable, the width of which should be several centimeters higher than the height of the beds. Boards are fastened with pegs.

Creation of a fertile layer

Having prepared a place for the beds, you can start laying the soil. This can be a ready-made substrate sold in garden stores, or a self-prepared mixture. In some cases, this is not necessary. If the soil on which the greenhouse is installed is saturated, well fertilized, then you can limit yourself to using only it. In this case, it must be disinfected by steaming.

When determining the type of soil mixture, you need to consider which crops are planned to be planted in the greenhouse. Often, soil that is acceptable for some plants will not work for others. In addition, when determining the type of crops planted, their compatibility must be taken into account.
