When working with cement, you always want the solution to turn out to be stronger and more reliable. It turns out that this can be done quite simply and inexpensively. Did not know? Then listen!
The range of modern building markets is replete with all kinds of additives designed to improve the quality of the cement mortar. In addition, we sell high-quality and reliable ready-mixed mixtures, as well as various adhesives. And everything would be fine if the specified additives and mixtures did not cost like an airplane! Honestly, it’s very expensive!
Fortunately, a brilliant idea came to my mind. I remembered that even Soviet builders added a "secret ingredient" to the cement, which made the mixture stronger.
People who grew up during the Soviet era should remember empty store shelves. There was little clothing, food, and building materials. Buying ready-made glue or cement was something fantastic. But our people have always been smart. So people came up with the idea of pouring PVA glue into the solution. Almost any work was performed with this mixture, from plastering walls to pouring concrete floors.
Due to the presence of glue in the composition, the solution acquires good elasticity and increased tenacity.
But I want to add a little fly in the ointment to this barrel of honey. Not every type of glue is suitable for adding to cement. To achieve the best effect, you should use PVA glue - MB. It contains in the composition polyvinyl acetate. This polymer can withstand high and low temperatures, and it also has a high degree of adhesion to any surface.
Having decided to try this method in practice, you will surely face the question: how much glue you need to add to the solution. Here you need to take into account the purposes for which the cement will be used.
- 1. If you need to lay tiles, then mix cement and sand, while taking the latter 5 times more. Also pour in PVA. The calculation is as follows: the glue in the solution should be about 20% of the total mass. If the composition is too thick, you can dilute it with water.
- 2. If you strive to increase the strength and plasticity of concrete, then the amount of PVA glue in the mixture should be about 5 - 10 percent.
- 3. To make a concrete floor, you need a 50 kg bag of cement, 2 of the same sand bags and 150 kg of crushed stone. For all this mass, you need to take 10 kilograms of PVA. At the same time, 10 kilograms less water is needed for mixing the composition.
- 4. If you need to cover up crumbling walls, then use the following proportions of cement, sand and glue: 1: 3: 1/2.
- 5. You can plaster the walls with a solution prepared according to the recipe described in the first paragraph. For every 10 kilograms of dry mix, add about 80 grams of PVA.
In the 90s, my father and I decided to lay out 2 walls in the bathroom with tiles. When mixing the solution, we added small amounts of PVA. Recently I decided to change this tile to a more modern and larger one. When I was making old tilesscolded "those muda ** in"who glued it so carefully)).
Therefore, from my own experience, I was convinced of the quality of the solution when adding PVA glue to it.
