Good afternoon, my reader. In a lush bloom, the main thing is to pinch the upper shoots of the flower in time. They can be deleted altogether. If this is not done, then the plant will grow upward, giving all its strength to this very thing. In this case, you can forget about the beautiful flowering. The appearance will be irreversibly damaged.

Rules for pinching petunia

Pay attention to the following rules.

As soon as you notice that the flower begins to stretch upward, try to immediately prevent this. Count five leaves from bottom to top. The rest can be pinched off. This is where the growth point is located, from which we get rid of. The flower can slow down its growth and flowering. But after a while, side shoots will appear. Petunia will become fluffy with abundant foliage. After a month, you can repeat the pinching. Thus, all the forces of the flower will be directed not towards growth, but towards color. You will get more lush buds.

At first glance, the matter seems simple. But inexperienced gardeners and gardeners sometimes do not always understand how pinching is carried out. It happens that at this stage of growing flowers, many mistakes are made. Therefore, we will dwell on it a little longer.

Check out all the nuances of pinching petunia:

  • Better sooner than later! There is no need to delay this moment. Do the pinching as soon as you notice a sharp growth of the plant. Otherwise, you may not be in time and miss your time. Some flowers do not grow lateral shoots if they are pinched too late.
  • Don't overdo it! Do not pinch off the top to the very root. Make sure the plant has 5 leaves left. If you pinch off too much, the plant may die. And if too little, then it will not help him become fluffy and brightly blooming.
  • Observation. Take a closer look at the bush before and after removing the upper shoot. Are there any changes? What kind? How did the plant grow? Did he develop lateral processes? How does it bloom now? Every question is very important. Watch this. Pay attention to dry leaves and flowers. If present, they must be removed immediately. Avoid getting these leaves on the root soil. Suddenly, this is some kind of disease. And this can adversely affect the entire plant. Therefore, it is better to immediately remove them from the entire site. Take them outside or burn them.
  • Pinching once a month. Take this sentence as a basic rule! Do not forget that this is the only way your flower will bloom magnificently and beautifully!
  • If you would like to propagate the plant, then do not rush to throw away the cut offshoot. It can be put in a jar of water. The main thing is that the water covers the place of the cut, but does not touch the leaves and does not drown the entire process in water. Otherwise, it will simply deteriorate and rot. As soon as you see the roots that have formed, the process is ready for transplantation. They are usually transplanted into prepared soil. All the lower leaves that are at the roots are removed. Only a few small top leaves are left.
