Good afternoon, my reader. During the growing season of garlic, which takes place in late spring, gardeners often face the problem of yellowing of the leaves. Most often this is the norm, but sometimes the reason lies in plant diseases or improper care.

Causes of yellowing of garlic leaves
There are several of them:
- Plant stress caused by irregularities in growing technology.
- Disease, fungus (most common - white / bacterial rot, black mold, stem nematode or fusarium).
- The plant is affected by pests.
In the process of growing garlic, it is extremely important to observe agricultural technology, because even a slight deviation can lead to a defect, including yellowing of the leaves.
Rules to follow
It is quite easy to avoid the problem. For this you need:
- To carry out top dressing with wood ash in May even before planting, since otherwise the soil may acidify due to the introduction of mineral additives and the lack of access to all nutrients.
- Observe the technology of planting garlic, as well as use high-quality planting materials.
- To plant in season, not too early and not too late.
- Observe the rules for caring for the plant (mulch in the event of an autumn drought, cover for the winter, etc.).
- Provide correct timely feeding and watering.
- Do not use fresh manure as fertilizer!
Ways to prevent yellowing of leaves
It is better to start the fight against yellowing of leaves long before a bright manifestation of the problem - with proper feeding. The useful elements that garlic needs are nitrogen and potassium, so you should pay attention to organic and mineral fertilizers that contain them.
Types of fertilizers and method of their application:
- Granular (for example, "Urea"): a groove is created with a depth of 2-2.5 cm between the rows of garlic, the granules are poured inside, covered with soil and watering is performed.
- Solution (Fertika Lux, urea): the fertilizer is mixed with water in a ratio of 1 tbsp. l. 10 liters, garlic is watered once a week.
Immediately after planting young plants, the best option would be foliar feeding - evening spraying with complex fertilizers and potassium sulfate (1 tsp. l. for 1 liter of water).
- Organic (wood ash, cut grass infusion): foliar method, application to the soil as an additional top dressing.
The growth and maturation of garlic, like other garden crops, is influenced by climatic conditions and the quality of care. The crop will suffer if frosts pass after planting or feeding is done in the wrong way.
Adherence to agricultural practices, timely watering and fertilization will help prevent possible problems, including yellowing of the leaves. A professional and comprehensive approach to cultivation will guarantee a healthy and tasty harvest in the fall.
