Good afternoon, my reader. The currant mite is considered one of the main pests of this shrub. This is because it is capable of causing the necrosis of many kidneys. In addition, the tick also carries a viral disease called terry. The life and development of the insect takes place in the buds themselves, where young individuals are formed, which subsequently pass to the whole plant.

Protection Tips

In order to prevent the appearance and development of ticks on your shrubs, we protect the currants with the help of regular weeding, since many diseases are transferred to the shrub precisely from weeds.

However, there are also varieties that are resistant and capable of fighting an insect pest for a long time on their own. An example of such is mainly the Golubka variety, because even with maximum tick damage, it still gives a fairly fertile crop, cleansing itself of the insect on its own. Other varieties have a similar ability, such as Rus, Severyanka, Zhelannaya and Nadyadnaya. But, unlike the Dovewing, all of these do not give a large harvest.

If insects do appear on the bush, it is necessary to cut off the damaged branches with a pruner. Affected kidneys are easy to identify, although the mites seem to be colossally small in size. Such kidneys look bloated in comparison with others. In this case, the branches that you cut off urgently need to be burned. In rare cases, the entire root portion above the ground will have to be burned. This method is considered downright radical.

Ticks are considered vulnerable during migration. As soon as the plant blooms, the pest immediately begins to wander, continuing to infest the shrub until the very ripening of the fruit. It is because of this aspect that it becomes almost impossible to resist ticks.

Tick transmission occurs with other insects, birds, as well as humans when processing plants. Because of this point, it is necessary to review the planting material in advance, before the planting process, removing those very affected branches.

Processing procedures

In order to say goodbye to a malicious pest, a solution of 2-3% nitrafen is prepared, with which it is necessary to spray the entire shrub before the buds dissolve, and later again before flowering. Subsequent processing is carried out using colloidal sulfur (1%) or karbofos (0.2-0.3%). Infected buds should be harvested and branches cut and burned (if necessary). If we forget about processing, the pest will continue its parasitic lifestyle, which leads to the complete weakening of the plant and its further death.

If you place currant bushes at a short distance from each other, forming a space between rows and alternating crops, it is possible to achieve a decrease in the percentage probability of damage to neighboring bushes. It is necessary to plant currants in a new way only from those shrubs that have not been damaged by a tick, and do not forget about a visual inspection for the presence of infected branches. In case you find a tick, use acaricides.

It is necessary to subject the plant to processing more than once, with breaks of 10-12 days between procedures. It should be understood that in rainy or cold weather, any processing will not bring special effects.

Traditional methods

Alternative methods also exist: spraying with garlic water or sulfuric solution, infusions of mustard or dandelion, pouring boiling water (this procedure is designed for the beginning of March).
