Top dressing

  • Potash, phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizing will strengthen the flower stalks and stems;
  • in early March, with the first rays of the sun, you should feed the bush with urea. The snow will melt and nutrients will enter the root system. For this period of time, the bush will be provided with adequate nutrition;
  • after the snow melts, sprinkle with wood ash. It will strengthen the plant and protect it from disease. Ash makes the color of peonies more attractive. In addition, the snow will melt faster, thereby provoking the growth of young shoots;

  • at the end of May, water the peonies with herbal infusion. Pour the grass (weeds, nettles) with warm water and let it brew for a week. Dry bird droppings can be added there. Dilute the mixture when watering with water at a rate of 1:10. Watering should be done after good watering of the bush with plain water or after rain.

Disease prevention

  • Watering with a solution of "Fitosporin" will help to avoid the development of gray rot (peonies are often susceptible to this disease). Treatment frequency - once every two weeks;
  • after the snow melts, remove dry leaves and stems near the peony, loosen the ground around the bush;
  • in early spring, it is recommended to water with a weak solution of potassium permanganate.

Rejuvenation

A peony is a flower that feels good when dividing a bush. And then almost immediately it begins to take root well and give shoots. Rejuvenation should be done every 5-6 years. This requires:

  • carefully dig out the bush;
  • if possible, shake off the earthen lump from him;
  • using a sharp shovel, divide the bush into parts: the large one is usually divided into 3-4, the small one - in half;
  • parts of the tuber are planted in the wells prepared in advance. It is advisable to lay rotted manure at the bottom of the pit and spill it well;
  • bury the plant so that the shoots are at the top, and the root is completely in the ground;
  • pour the peony with water, the water should completely saturate the young bush.

Failure to comply with preventive measures in wet June and May leads to the fact that all leaves and stems can wither on the bush. At the same time, the plant may survive, but in the summer it will no longer delight with its beautiful flowers. With poor-quality care, the peony buds become smaller, become painful and lose their visual appeal. At first glance, the peony seems to be growing, it releases greens in the spring, but stops blooming. Quite often and completely dies.

Follow preventive measures and enjoy the magnificent flowering of this beautiful plant!
