A question with such a title was asked by the reader Natalia.

This is the 37th Q&A publication. You can familiarize yourself with some of the past parts by clicking on the links after this article.

The text of the question itself was as follows:

It is necessary to conduct additional light from the existing lamp holder, that is, the light is already there, turns on and off, a wire hangs from the ceiling connected to the lamp holder. Hangs in the wrong place.
Since I cannot draw a separate line myself, it is easier to draw from the existing cartridge.
Question: is it possible to connect a wire with a socket and a light bulb? If so, please give instructions on how. Just connect it ground to ground, phase to phase and zero to zero?

I considered the issue and advised Natalia within the framework of my knowledge and qualifications as follows:

It depends on what exactly you want to connect from this lamp holder...

If you plan to leave the existing cartridge and take power from it for the next one, then connect according to the principle phase conductor to phase, neutral to neutral can be, but the protective conductor can be connected with a loop prohibited. Since this method poses a threat to human life, the PE protective wire must be laid individually to each consumer. Also note that when connected to a valid socket, the power to the new light bulb will be supplied from the same switch, you will not be able to power it up independently.

If you plan to dismantle the old light bulb and organize a junction box in this place, then you can take all three wires for the new device. These connection options can be schematically depicted as follows:
