What techniques will help indoor flowers grow by leaps and bounds and look as decorative as possible

There are several important points in caring for indoor plants that should be paid special attention to by an amateur florist. In order for the potted inhabitants to please the owner with their decorativeness, they should be properly watered and fed.

Watering

If the crop grows in a small pot, the moisture it receives is consumed very quickly due to the dry indoor air. The problem is especially acute in the winter months, when heating devices are working in the house. In this case, the plant suffers from dry soil and nutritional deficiencies.

Each indoor plant needs an individual watering regime. You can calculate the moisture requirement of a potted dweller by examining the state of the top soil layer in the pot. Watering the flower is required only when the soil dries out 0.5-1 cm deep. It is unacceptable to allow the soil to dry out more in a container with an ornamental culture.

Waterlogging is just as detrimental to indoor flowers as a lack of moisture. Stagnation of water is especially dangerous, which is fraught with decay of roots, morbidity and death of the plant.

The presence of a drainage layer at the bottom of the pot will help to avoid the problem. Its thickness should be at least 3-5 cm.

Timely drainage of water from the sump will also help prevent stagnation of the liquid. The procedure should be carried out half an hour after watering the flower.

Top dressing

Indoor flowers need to get enough nutrients to grow well and maintain an attractive appearance.

So that the culture does not suffer from poor nutrition, it is required to feed it. For this purpose, the following means are used:

  • Purchased mineral fertilizers. They are distinguished by their balanced composition, simplicity and ease of use. It is best to use a nutrient mixture designed for a specific ornamental plant species (for palms, succulents, aroid crops, and others). Purchased fertilizer is used, strictly following the instructions from the manufacturer.
  • Granulated sugar. This is a popular folk remedy that is suitable for any indoor flower. Sugar (1 tbsp. L.) is dissolved in water (1/2 l) and the plant is watered with the resulting liquid once every 1 month.
  • Castor oil. To obtain fertilizer, dissolve a little castor oil (1 tsp. l.) in water (1 l). The resulting liquid nutrient mixture will contribute to better crop growth, improved appearance, and health.
  • Ash. This remedy is rich in potassium and phosphorus compounds. Wood ash infusion is especially useful for flowering plants. Thanks to him, they bloom more abundantly and for a long time. Apply the agent, starting from the moment the first buds are formed, and until the culture has faded. Groundbait is introduced at intervals of 1 time in 14 days.
  • Infusion on banana peels or citrus peels. This product will provide the plant with nitrogen. The peel is dried, poured with boiling water (2 tbsp. l. 1 l), let it brew for a day.
  • Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin). This dressing is indicated for flowers that grow well in soil with a high acidity index. We are talking about azaleas, hydrangeas, begonias and others. Thanks to aspirin, these ornamental crops grow and bloom better. To obtain a liquid fertilizer, dissolve 1 tablet in water (1 l). Water it with a flower once every 1-2 months.
  • Aloe leaf juice. This folk remedy is a powerful growth stimulant. It is suitable for all indoor flowers, especially for weakened and poorly growing. To obtain top dressing, dissolve a little juice (2 tsp. l.) in water (3 l). The resulting liquid is watered with the plant once every 30 days.
Thanks to competent watering and the use of nutrient mixtures, you can heal a houseplant, accelerate its growth. This contributes to the fact that the potted inhabitant delights the eye with its beauty and luxurious flowering.
