In order for the honeysuckle harvest to be high, it is necessary to feed the plant in a timely manner.

Organic

Organic fertilizers are easily absorbed by the plant. They stay in the soil longer, giving honeysuckle the ability to completely absorb nutrients.

Nitrogen, which is part of the organic matter, promotes the active growth of the shrub. To do this, in the spring, chicken droppings are diluted with water (1:11) and the bush is shed under the root.

In the fall, while digging the soil, add humus or compost. They are used diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10, or as a mulching layer.

Organic fertilizing is carried out three times per season:

  1. In the spring, during the formation of the kidneys. Put 1/2 bucket of rotted compost under the bush. It significantly increases the fertility of the land.
  2. Carried out during flowering. Take 1 glass of liquid vermicompost. Dilute 10 liters of water in a bucket and water the plant at the very root. Top dressing will give the plant the necessary amount of nutrients for further successful fruiting, and will increase its immunity to climatic fluctuations.
  3. At the end of summer. At this time, a liter of ash is added under each plant.

The honeysuckle root system is shallow, so many fertilizers are applied as mulch and then spilled. Moisture facilitates the penetration of nutrients into deeper layers.

Mineral compositions

A characteristic feature of mineral fertilizers is their fast action.

For honeysuckle, formulations are suitable, which include:

  • Potassium. 15 g per 1 m 2. This element is necessary for the fruits to have a sweet taste, to be stored longer. And the foliage of the plant was deep green. Part of wood ash. It is used both dry and diluted with water. Potassium nitrate or sulfate is also used.
  • Phosphorus. With its lack, honeysuckle stops growing, early leaf fall sets in. Bone meal is rich in this trace element. For feeding honeysuckle, it is brought in in the first half of May. Use 16 g per 1 m 2. Ammophos is easily absorbed - 11 g per 1 m 2. It is added no more than once every two years.
  • Nitrogen. Used in early spring, as soon as the snow melted. With water, it penetrates into the soil, the plant wakes up and active growth begins. They use urea, nitrophosphate, saltpeter, urea. Take 1 tbsp for a bucket of water. l. of the selected fertilizer, bred and shed the plant. Saltpeter is also scattered in the form of granules under the bush.

The taste of the future crop is improved by the introduction of superphosphate: 55 g per 1 m 2.

If honeysuckle lacks mineral fertilizers, its shoots become thinner and deformed. Immunity to diseases and pests is greatly reduced.

Complex formulations

Some fertilizers include several useful substances in their composition at once. For example, organics contain nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, supplemented by sulfur, copper and calcium.

These include:

  • Manure. Thoroughly dried, it is used for digging in the fall. Or add diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 6.
  • Bird droppings. Used dry as a mulch layer in autumn. In winter, decomposing, it warms the honeysuckle root system. In the spring - in liquid form. One part is diluted with 6 parts of water and poured under the root.
  • Humus. Use compost that is at least three years old. One part of humus is mixed with one part of the earth and one part of peat. Most often used in the form of mulch. In the spring - in the form of an infusion, diluted with water and keeping for at least two days.
  • Ash. Contains potassium and calcium. Used as a mulch layer for foliar and root dressing. Infusion of ash is sprayed on the crown of honeysuckle to scare off pests.
With proper care and timely feeding, honeysuckle gives a rich and tasty harvest, from which jam, jelly is prepared or berries are frozen for the winter.
