Good afternoon, my reader. The duration and splendor of flowering is influenced by the regularity of top dressing and the type of fertilization. Below we will consider various options for feeding, which will positively affect the flowering period of indoor plants.

Castor oil supplementation

This drug can be used not only for medical purposes, but also as a fertilizer for flowers. If the formation of buds in a plant occurs once a year, a single feeding with a solution based on castor oil will be sufficient. A single procedure is not enough for plants that bloom several times a year. For these flowers, a once a month fertilization regime is suitable, skipping the winter season.

To prepare the nutrient mixture, 5 ml of oil is dissolved in 1 liter of settled water and shaken thoroughly. This solution does not need to be infused, so it is used immediately after preparation. Before use, we recommend to loosen the soil, and thanks to shaking, the agent will quickly penetrate to the root system and begin to act.

If you apply the product at the wrong time and wait too long, a film will form on the surface of the solution, which will not get to the roots of the plant. This will only harm the flower: the product will slow down the oxygen supply to the root system, which will affect growth and flowering.

Uses of sugar, coffee, ash and yeast

Over time, sugar breaks down into fructose and glucose. Fructose is useless for plants and does not affect their development in any way, and glucose plays the role of an important building material. Also, this substance takes part in obtaining oxygen by indoor plants. Fertilizer should not be applied more than once every 3-4 weeks. To prepare a solution in 500 ml of water, add 5 g of sugar, then water the plantings. If you want to save time and not prepare the solution, just sprinkle sugar on the soil and then moisten the soil.

Coffee contains many beneficial ingredients that have a positive effect on flowering duration and bud size. Coffee significantly increases the acidity of the soil, so you cannot feed this fertilizer to flowers that prefer to grow in an alkaline or neutral environment. The advantage of this method is that there is no need to prepare fertilizer: the coffee grounds remaining in the mug after the drink are simply poured into the ground.

Ash, unlike coffee, reduces the acidity of the soil, enriches it with useful substances and serves as a disinfectant. Even a single feeding with wood ash stops putrefactive processes that progress due to mistakes in care.

For such feeding, the ash is simply mixed with the soil when the plant is moved to a new container. If a transplant is not planned, you need to prepare a liquid fertilizer (2 tablespoons of ash are taken for 2 liters of water) and add to the ground, mix.

Yeast promotes the assimilation of organic substances, increases the amount of carbon dioxide. This top dressing becomes a good alternative to complex fertilization. 10 g of dry yeast and 50 g of sugar are dissolved in 1 liter of water, infused for 2-3 hours and diluted in 5 liters of water. The resulting solution is used as a root top dressing.
