Everyone knows that sport is an important component of good health and long life. And regular exercise and training improves not only health, but also appearance. Excellent physical fitness is especially important for people who defend the country - military, sailors, security forces.
Of course, the emotional and spiritual state is no less important, but sport allows you to increase, improve these indicators, make a man stronger in every sense of the word. In this regard, the military, in particular in the navy, must constantly train, improve their skills not only in military affairs, but also in sports.
However, this statement does not apply to sailors serving on submarines. In this case, the rule does not work. If on land submariners undergo appropriate training, including sports training, then power sports activities are prohibited on most modern nuclear submarines. This is due to the negative impact of exercise on human health.
Submarines equipped with nuclear reactors (nuclear powered submarines) have become much more autonomous than their predecessors. Due to this, they can stay at depth for much longer.
Naturally, the crew must breathe, and for this they need air. But here it is artificial, produced by special life support installations. In order for people to breathe, they need oxygen, which is obtained in this case by electrolysis - water from behind the board is split into oxygen and hydrogen. There are also special purification systems on board that remove carbon dioxide from the air formed as a result of the life of submariners.
What is the connection between the air inside the submarine and sports activities
With intense physical exertion, more carbon dioxide is released, respectively, the chemical formula of the air is violated, and this can adversely affect the health of the crew members. In addition, they are under water for the maximum allowable amount of time (three months), and this itself is itself is a huge burden on all internal organs, in particular on the heart, kidneys and others systems.

But there are nuclear submarines, such as the Project 941 Akula submarines, which were originally equipped with gyms with exercise equipment. Most likely, these submarines are equipped with an improved air filtration and oxygenation system.
