Many inexpensive difavtomats have a significant drawback, which is not obvious and which is not written about in the characteristics.

Big lack of inexpensive difavtomats

Just in case, I will write that a difavtomat or a differential current circuit breaker is an RCD and an automatic device in one device. The difavtomat turns off both when the current is exceeded or a short circuit, as a conventional machine, and when leakage currents appear (when the currents through the phase and neutral wires begin to differ), like an RCD.

The problem lies in this combination of two functions: when most inexpensive difavtomats are triggered, it is impossible to understand what caused the triggering.

I looked at the difavtomats of the three most famous manufacturers.

Schneider Electric in the cheap Easy9 series (1800-2800 rubles) does not have any signs of an indication of the cause of the operation. The series "Brownie" (3000-5000 rubles) and "Acti 9" (5900-8400 rubles) have a cunning design of two triggers, the position of which shows what worked.

ABB also has no signs in the cheap Basic M series (1600-2300 rubles). In the series "DSH201R" (3200-4100 rubles) and "DS201" (5700-7700 rubles) there is an indication of the reason in the form of a blue insert, as in the title photo, or two indicator windows at the bottom.

Legrand also has an indication in the cheap "RX3" series (1500-2000 rubles) and in the DX3 series (2700-8700 rubles). For RX3, the Reset button is snapped off, for RX3 there is a window on the right to display the cause of the operation.

Of course, any good difavtomat will perform its functions, but in the case when it starts to work, and the reason for these trips is not clear, the indication of which part (RCD or machine) tripped will not be at all superfluous.

It turns out that if there is space in the shield, it will be cheaper to install not a difavtomat, but an RCD and an automatic machine, while it will always be obvious what happened when one of them was triggered.
