Socket tester and RCD

A simple and useful device is sold in Leroy for 478 rubles - a socket tester and RCD "Duwi DIY M6860".

Structurally, it is a small plastic box with a Euro plug.

The front panel has four LEDs and a button.

The three upper LEDs indicate the correct connection of the socket (presence of phase, zero and ground). For the tester to work properly, the phase must be connected to the right pin of the socket. If the phase is to the left, the tester will display a phase / zero connection incorrect error.

In this case, the tester can simply be turned over and two green LEDs will light up on it, indicating the correct connection.

When the RCD test button is pressed, the LED flashes and the tester generates a current pulse of 30 mA, at which the RCD should trip. To check the RCD, the outlet must be grounded.

The tester cannot determine the error when zero and ground in the outlet are reversed, but this can be done using the RCD test button - if the RCD is not disconnected when the button is pressed, and it is known to be working properly, the ground and zero in the socket are connected incorrectly. However, this will also come to light when any load is connected - the RCD will immediately turn off.

When a single outlet is installed, such a tester will be a useful help, but you can do without it. But when you need to take the work of electricians who have installed dozens of outlets, the tester will significantly save time and not miss outlets that are connected incorrectly.
