Friends, I welcome everyone to our channel for garage self-taught in welding and locksmith!

There are many difficulties and tricks in metal welding with an electrode, especially for beginners to master this business. There are 2 parts that we need to weld, a beginner strikes with an electrode and these problems often happen to him.

The electrode just sticks to the piece of iron to be welded, it's good when it can be quickly torn off, not particularly frozen. And sometimes it welds well, you need to unclench the holder and then break off the electrode.

Another problem is that the electrode does not stick, the welding seems to be going on, but everything is flooded with slag, it is impossible to make out where is the metal and where is the slag. Then we beat off the slag and we see such a picture - the metal sticks to one of the parts to be welded.

Therefore, to prevent this from happening, I will show you how to start exactly the first centimeter of the seam correctly. If you do this, then there should be no problem.

When we start welding 2 parts, strike with an electrode, the first sparks begin to appear. And at this moment, you just need to lengthen the gap between the metal and the tip of the electrode.

We make the torch of the arc more authentic and with such an arc we begin to warm up the edges of the metal being welded. On a long arc, the electrode will not stick with us and such a torch allows you to quickly warm up the surfaces of the parts to be welded.

We look for a bridge (bridge) of molten metal to form between the edges. At the length of the arc, the slag is also not terrible for us, such a torch has strong pressure and simply drives the slag back from the surface of the molten metal.

We see that both edges of the parts to be welded are well wetted and filled with molten metal. This will be the right moment. So we have formed a weld pool, now you can smoothly lower the tip of the electrode closer to this metal lake and continue welding on a short arc.

The welding should now proceed normally and stably. The weld must not only be finished correctly, weld the crater at the end, but also started correctly.

Doing everything as described above, there should be no problems with sticking, slagging, metal sticks to one of the welded edges, there should be no problem. Try it, practice on unnecessary pieces of iron, and you will immediately see a good result from this simple electrode action.
