Good afternoon, my reader. When choosing a fertilizer that should be scattered over the snow in March, you should be guided by the experience of gardeners and take into account that not every top dressing is suitable for use in early spring. There are many nuances to be aware of.

Is it possible to apply fertilizers on snow
The possibility of using top dressing in the snow in early spring will depend on factors such as:
- regionality;
- the height of the snow cover.
In the south of the country, it is possible to fertilize the soil closer to the spring period, when the soil begins to thaw during the day and freezes at night. In such soil, microelements will gradually dissolve, penetrate into the arable layer, and will not be washed off by melt water.
In other areas where the snow cover is high, they will wash out when the snow melts.
What dressings can you work with in March
In order for fertilization in early spring to be beneficial to the site, you should study with which top dressing you can start work, and which must be left until the onset of better weather.
Phosphoric
Phosphate supplements help melt snow, such as superphosphate. Therefore, it is better not to apply such fertilizer on snow cover. Phosphorus works effectively exclusively in the soil layer. The plant will receive top dressing if the solution:
- pour directly under the bush;
- add to the planting hole.
Nitrogen
They can be used at the beginning of March. In this case, it is worth considering the type of fertilizer:
- Urea containing 46% nitrogen cannot be scattered over the snow. Such feeding will not give a good result. The effect of this organic matter will be in the second half of June, then urobacteria, which decompose urea, will begin to work. Moreover, in March, trees can be sprayed with a solution of urea (800 g of the drug per 10 liters of water). It is a great fungicide.
- Calcium nitrate can be applied over snow cover. This will give the expected effect. This, at the same time nitrogen and calcium, top dressing is important for garden crops in the spring. For 1 sq. m takes 1 handful of the drug.
- Ammonium nitrate is successfully used on snow in March in the first place. This feeding is not only budgetary, but also its granules are capable of "burning through" the ice crust if the cover is very thick. This fertilizer works in cold soil while it is "sleeping" and plants are experiencing nitrogen hunger. Organic matter during this period is powerless, because it works exclusively in heated soil. Perennial vegetables, grapes, shrubs and trees are especially in need of ammonium nitrate.
Important! Nitrate contains nitrogen in half:
- in nitrate form;
- in amide form.
The vegetation will absorb nitrates first, thus quickly eliminating the nitrogen deficiency. After seven days, the amide form will begin to act, providing a prolonged effect.
Complex
Many gardeners prefer complex fertilizers:
- they are easier to use;
- they show the best results.
In March, on snow, it is better to give your preference to them.
The most popular variety is azofoska. It contains 15 percent each:
- nitrogen;
- potassium;
- phosphorus.
When used on a snow cover, it works great: with melt water it gets into the ground and goes to garden and horticultural crops. Another advantage is cheapness.
You can also opt for expensive formulations that contain a wider range of trace elements necessary for plants. Their use in the first month of spring will give a positive result.
At the beginning of spring, in the snow, you can and even need to use the above compositions to get a good result on your personal plot.
