Pros of natural dressing

When there is a search for the merits of folk remedies, they are usually compared with chemical fertilizers. Organic wins in the composition of the components. Such solutions contain only useful elements, which means that the crop will be obtained without admixtures of chemicals. The rest of the pluses play an equally important role, so, for example, self-made top dressing is safe, harmless to the environment and people. There is also a longer lasting effect of use in comparison with synthetic agents.

What natural fertilizer is better to use

It is important to monitor not only the composition of the top dressing, but also the mode of application. It is recommended to fertilize the tomatoes for the first time 14 days after transferring the seedlings to the ground. This will provide the necessary nutrients for growth. Further, it is necessary to feed the plants every 2 weeks, and so on until the third decade of July.

What to use for fertilizers:

  • wood ash;
  • yeast;
  • iodine solution;
  • bird droppings;
  • nettle leaves.

Wood ash is considered the oldest method of plant nutrition. Fertilizers are recommended for tomatoes at the stage of bud formation. What is the best way to add them? The first step is to prepare the soil, moisten it well. Then 2 options: pure ash or solution. If ash is taken, then you just need to scatter it over the beds. The liquid product is prepared as follows: take 3 liters of water, add 300 g of ash, boil for 30 minutes and leave for 5 hours. Dilute to 10 liters before processing, strain. You can spray the bushes. If you want to water the beds with top dressing, then 1 glass of ash per bucket of water is enough.

Yeast is used as an effective growth promoter for tomatoes. The easiest way is to dilute 100 g of starter culture in a full bucket of water and water the beds. Other recipes also help:

  1. Rye bread with yeast (100 g) and warm water (3 l), remove for 4 days. Strain, dilute 1:10. Pour 1-2 liters per bush.
  2. Dry starter culture (1 sachet), sugar (2 tbsp. l.), cold water (1 bucket), leave for 3 days. Process 500 ml per plant.
Experienced gardeners often use an aqueous-alcoholic iodine solution. There are a lot of useful properties, but the most important: help in protecting plants from harmful phytophthora and accelerating the ripening of fruits without compromising taste. The standard recipe for tomatoes: add 6 drops of iodine to 10 liters of water, water the plantings, distributing the solution of 2 liters per plant.

Perfectly replaces mineral fertilizers during the flowering period and the formation of ovaries, chicken droppings. Application methods:

  1. Dry droppings (0.5 kg), water (10 l), leave under a film for 5 days. Stir occasionally. Dilute 1:20 and water each bush at the rate of 0.5-1 liters per plant.
  2. capacity (10 l), fresh droppings (1/3 of the container), water (to the top), leave for 7-8 days. Take 500 ml of the mixture, dilute with 10 liters of water and process the beds. Water the soil between the rows of plantings, 5 liters per 1 m 2. Do not brush the leaves with the solution, otherwise there will be burns.

Nettle leaves contain minerals that are beneficial to plants, namely potassium, nitrogen and iron. The classic recipe for feeding: fill a container with a volume of 12 or 15 liters by 2/3 with fresh leaves, add water, leaving the container on top of 5 cm. Cover, remove for 7-10 days in a warm place for infusion. Before processing, take 1 liter of solution, dilute 1:10, shed the beds under the roots of the plants, the bush requires 1000 ml. The concentration is quite high, so you need to feed the tomatoes twice a month, not more often.
