We all want to live in comfortable conditions and try to create the most favorable climate in the house. To do this, the dwelling needs to be heated and for this there are two main methods: electric and gas. If we are talking about the first method, then the choice has to be made between the following schemes:
- 1. An electric boiler is installed in the house, from which piping is done in all rooms.
- 2. It is possible to install an individual heater in each separate room.
Both of these options take place, both have advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I settled on the second method, deciding to install a heating device in each room. And again, I was faced with a choice: which heaters are better - oil or convectors? I share with you the observations and conclusions that I made.
Which radiators are better: the pros and cons of both options
Let's first talk about how an oil cooler works. This device is a battery with oil inside. The battery is powered by a built-in electric heating element. The heating temperature of the heater depends on the oil temperature. The presence of a heating element helps prevent the oil from overheating if the room is too cold.
The main advantage of oil heaters is their thermal inertia. First, the heating element heats up a certain amount of oil, and then turns off. The heater transfers heat to the room, gradually cooling down. Then it turns on again. Oil radiators dry the air in the room less, which is also a plus.
We decided to install convectors in the house. I'll tell you why.
Oil heaters have one significant drawback. If the thermostat fails, it is possible that the oil will overheat and the radiator will burst due to excessive internal pressure. Of course, the risk is minimal, but still there. In the case of convectors, this problem is excluded.
But we were also guided by other factors. In convectors, thermoregulation is carried out better, they function either according to the temperature of the heating element, or according to the ambient temperature (in this case, there is a special remote sensor on the heater).
I thought that convectors have more accurate and convenient thermoregulation. To get rid of the dry air in the rooms, we have installed ventilation and are considering purchasing a humidifier.
Did the convectors live up to our expectations?
We started heating the house last fall and managed to draw some conclusions about the convectors. There were both advantages and disadvantages in their operation, i.e. the method is not ideal.
In this case, it is up to you to decide which heaters to install: oil or convectors. Both have advantages. The main thing is that the house is warm, cozy and comfortable, and the process of heating the dwelling does not cause you problems.
