Decembrist is a profusely branched shrub with flat, jointed shoots, which blooms profusely in winter with graceful white or red flowers. In our latitudes, it is often grown at home as a houseplant. Schlumberger prefers coolness, partial shade and occasional watering. This allows him to feel great in a typical shaded apartment.

Despite its unpretentiousness, the Decembrist requires rational and regular care. If you forget about the plant or pay too much attention to it, problems can arise. The most common of these is systematic wilting. Cactus shoots become lethargic, soft, lose turgor and sink. The plant stops blooming, and its general condition deteriorates markedly.

Sometimes extreme heat, cold, too abundant watering or drafts become the cause of wilting. However, if you do not turn on the heaters at full power, do not open the windows wide open and do not humidify the Decembrist every day, it is worth considering other causes of the problem.

Shoots can wilt due to over-feeding. An excess of fertilizers to Schlumberger is useless - in its natural environment, this cactus grows like an epiphyte and does practically without a substrate. Therefore, at home, it is very important not to overfeed it. You need to use complex fertilizers no more than once a month, and it is advisable to reduce the dosage twice.

In addition, the shoots can be soft due to decay of the root system. The main reason is poor drainage. Make sure the pot has enough holes to drain moisture away. Otherwise, the substrate will be constantly waterlogged, which sooner or later will lead to problems.

Do not forget that plants can rot due to fungal and bacterial infections, as well as suffer from pests. Late blight, fusarium, ervinias, spider mites and scale insects - all of them, if possible, infect Schlumberger. Only regular careful inspection of the plant will help to avoid problems.
