After reading it, you can easily choose the right quartz laminate. I have highlighted 6 main points to know before buying.
Briefly what a quartz laminate is made of
Quartz laminate is a floor covering that consists of ground stone (75%) and virgin vinyl (25%). The material is produced by hot pressing without using glue.
Are Quartz Laminate Grades Important?
The division into classes is rather arbitrary. At the moment, the manufactured laminate is assigned values from 31 to 34 classes. The higher the number, the longer the service life and reliability. In practice, I can say that you should not attach too much importance to these numbers, and here's why:
For example, two floor coverings of 33 classes from different manufacturers may in fact behave completely differently. In this sense, it is worth focusing not so much on the class as on the name of the manufacturer. The more famous the brand, the higher the likelihood that the quartz laminate will last a long time and there will be no problems with it.
Can I put quartz laminate in the bathroom
Definitely yes. Quartz laminate does not contain any wood or glue, so there is simply nothing to get wet there. All liquid that gets on the material remains on the surface. It is very comfortable. According to its technical characteristics, quartz laminate is ideally combined with a warm floor: it can be heated up to 42 degrees.
I have used this kind of quartz laminate even for bathroom walls, and there were no problems.
How to choose the pattern and color of the laminate
There is a huge selection on the market - from snow white to radical black. I will give you a simple piece of advice that I myself constantly use. Choose a laminate that is as close to natural wood as possible. Take a look for yourself.
Why do I love natural wood? You can't go wrong with him. This is an absolutely universal shade that will suit any interior - from scandi to neoclassical.
Is the size of the dice important?
If we are talking about width, then this is absolutely unimportant. Choose according to your taste. I recommend using medium width from 180-200 mm and length from 1.2 to 1.7 m.
If we are talking about thickness, then this parameter directly determines the price and quality of the laminate. The thicker, the stronger and more stable the material. But you shouldn't get too carried away either. For example, 4mm SPC laminate flooring meets all the durability requirements for commercial spaces. And for home use, a quartz laminate with a thickness of 3.5 mm is perfect.
Do I need to level the floor before installing the laminate
Necessarily! Otherwise, the floor will begin to creak corny, and in some places the fasteners may disperse. It is also important to use a 1.5mm thick backing - this option is ideal for quartz laminates. This will soften the interaction of concrete with the base of the coating, eliminate squeaks and provide good sound absorption.
Summarize:
- quartz laminate - this is a convenient and beautiful material that does not need to be looked after, but it will last a really long time (its service life is 25 years);
- do not be afraid to use SPC laminate in any room from the nursery to the bathroom - it is completely safe;
- the division into classes is conditional, it is much more important to choose a good manufacturer. I personally recommend Fargo Quartz Laminate, which I often use in my projects. Also this laminate is installed in our Fields showroom;
- choose the shade and size of the dice to your liking. I advise you to pay attention to the most natural shades;
- be sure to level the floor before installation and use underlayment. This will save you from problems in the future.
