I rented a garage here, and in it a terrible-looking contraption hangs from the ceiling and a cord stretches from it along the ceiling.
Here's a gravicap.
The label says "SOT-1U fire-extinguishing aerosol generator".
I got on the Internet to study what it is. When triggered, this gizmo releases a terrible amount of aerosol smoke with a temperature of 400 degrees for 90 seconds. The process looks like this.

Although it expired 15 years ago, I’m even scared to imagine what would happen if it worked in the garage. At first I was afraid that it would "burst" if I pulled the cord that comes out of it, but it turned out to be a thermochemical fuse, in other words, a “fuse cord”. If a fire starts in the room, a charge will light up through the cord inside this thing and it will begin to emit an aerosol.
Yesterday, being at the Securika exhibition, I went to the stand of the manufacturer of this gizmo, asked how it works, and at the same time I learned that now it is called AGS-7/2.
The principle of its operation is as follows: the cord ignites the powder fuse, which in turn ignites the solid composition, which emits a large amount of smoke with fine powder during combustion. The bell slightly reduces the temperature of the aerosol At the same time, oxygen is burned out in the room. There are versions with an electric fuse instead of a cord.
It seems that this thing is not dangerous and cannot work itself, but it still looks intimidating. :)
