We are accustomed to the fact that in our panel of an individual residential house or apartment, you can de-energize electrical circuits using the usual circuit breaker, but there are devices called load break switches that can do the same most!

Many load break switches also contain windows that show the real position in the contacts. Their contacts are designed for a higher current value, have a greater pressing force, and the whole mechanism has a greater number of on-off cycles.

So why do you need a load breaker when there are circuit breakers?

If we flip the circuit breaker once more, we gradually wear it out. The circuit breaker is designed for overcurrent protection. If we often connect the load with an automatic switch, we will increase its wear, plus the contacts themselves will wear out when disconnected, they will constantly extinguish the arc.

For safety, a load switch is installed in the electrical panels, which is intended only for breaking the electrical circuit!

  1. Often they are made with two breaks in the electrical circuit and also with a visible break. When we see that the circuit is broken, we can apparently work on our wiring safely performing repair work. Here is its main purpose - to break the electrical circuit and provide guaranteed electrical safety.
  2. In the circuit breaker, when a shutdown occurs, in some cases its lever may be in the on position and only a triggered signaling device will show us that the switch will automatically passed out, in this case, the contact inside the switch can stick and voltage will be applied to your wiring. And by working, you can get under stress.

As a result, if you want to work safely or disconnect your electrical installation frequently, but do not use the resource at the same time of the circuit breaker I recommend in this case to use switches load. When the real disconnected position of the contacts is visible in the window, this is a guarantee of your electrical safety.

By cost load break switches, oddly enough, are not much cheaper than circuit breakers, because their production is not serial, but more small-scale - therefore, their cost is at the level automatically switches.
