I have never cooked with a semiautomatic device, but I have long wanted to purchase this modern instrument. And so everything turned out, now I have it. At the time of this writing, I have about 6-8 hours of work experience on a semiautomatic device!
One working day can be said. I want to share my impressions of such welding, and what are the results of welding for a person without experience. True, the experience of welding with electrodes is 15 years old, so it's easier for me, probably.
My semiautomatic brand VIKING-200 PRO SYNERGIC.
I bought a carbon dioxide cylinder with a reducer, a coil of welding wire with a diameter of 0.8 mm. I loaded the wire, turned on the gas, and began to weld various scraps of metal.
There were no problems with the settings for welding mode, current and wire feed speed. This semi-automatic has a nice feature especially for beginners called SYNERGY.
Here is an electronic display of settings, just like on a smartphone! Selectable welding modes - semi-automatic welding, manual arc welding, non-ferrous metal welding in argon, there is even welding with a reel-to-reel gun, though I have never seen such a thing, you need find out.
A lot of useful settings for all welding cases, over time we will try all this, we will test it. But the most important thing for a beginner is the synergy feature. The point is this is a built-in program that automatically adjusts the amperage and wire feed speed.
You feel that there is not enough current, you turned the regulator more, and the wire feed speed automatically increased exactly as needed. A beginner does not need to twist and be nervous with the settings, everything turns out quickly and well.
Included with the semiautomatic device there is also a holder for welding with electrodes. But I have not tried a manual arc welder here yet, I have a 200-amp TORUS 200 welder for this. But I will definitely try, just wondering.
After practicing for a couple of hours on scraps, I decided to cook a useful product right away. This is a 115 liter shower tank, 1.5 mm metal. Remained scraps of a sheet poltoraski from the previous order.
I checked for leaks, poured water, wet the seams in 3 places. I cleaned these places and welded again. It's okay now. There was no need to rush, it was necessary to boil the tank after 4 hours of training on trimming!
Let's now weld these 2 joints, a 40 x 40 mm profile pipe, a wall thickness of 1.5 mm.
Welding of such metal with a semiautomatic device is easy and without separation, only there is a uniform crackle. Let's take a look at the welding results.
I repeat, I am a beginner in welding with a semiautomatic device, just mastering it. There are some downsides to my first seams (so far), but semiautomatic welding is much easier than electrode welding. Therefore, to good results, I think the path will not be so long.
So welding with a semiautomatic device VIKING-200 PRO SYNERGIC even for a person with no experience at all, it will be quite comfortable and understandable. We choose the synergy mode and make our first seams.
I will share with you my progress in welding with a semiautomatic device.
Friends, the video of my first seams and the filming of the welding process itself through a darkening filter will be released on the channel tomorrow, April 18, Sunday. For those who are interested in the topic, be sure to take a look.
