The Swiss knife has a very long and rich history. Having appeared almost 130 years ago thanks to the company of Karl Elsener, this tool has undergone a huge number of changes. Year after year, generation after generation, the Swiss knife only got better and more perfect, gradually gaining fame as the best and most advanced universal tool in the world. Specifically in the photographs you can see the famous knife Victorinox Huntsman.
The instrument set up from the set is an awl. It has been installed in Swiss knives since the very first models, when Elsener knives were primarily produced for the Swiss army. In early models, the awl was mainly used not for sewing, but for cleaning and repairing weapons. Until 1961, it looked like an ordinary oblong grinded metal rod. From 1961 to 1985, the Victorinox Huntsman were produced with an improved awl, with a slight bevel added to the blade to improve the piercing properties of the tool.

The hole in the awl of the Victorinox Huntsman knife appeared only after 1985. Strange as it may seem, but it was done so that the owner had the opportunity to thread and sew in it. Thus, the awl also turns into a needle, which, according to the principle of its use, rather resembles a sewing machine. True, it will not work to mend the socks with such a needle, because it is too big. This tool can only be used for repairing leather goods, for example, shoes.
