How to make a simple antenna for digital TV from a conventional splitter

If a TV tower is available near the house, then an ordinary passive antenna will be quite enough to connect to digital TV. Such devices are widely represented in the electronics market. But according to the principle of its structure, the antenna is so simple that it makes no sense to give your hard-earned money for it. It is much easier and better to do it yourself, having obtained only a splitter and a cable.

What you need: coaxial cable RG-6, TV plug, antenna splitter for 2 outputs, F-connector for cable (3 pieces)

Having prepared everything you need to create a makeshift digital TV antenna, you can get to work. First of all, we take a coaxial cable in our hands, mark a 50 cm segment on it and cut it off. At one of the ends of the resulting fragment, remove the insulation with an indent of 15 mm from the edge. It is important to do this so that the inner sheath of the cable is not damaged or broken; in turn, it must be neatly wrapped towards the back edge. The remaining insulation is then removed so that the central core can be accessed.

One of the F-connectors is installed on the stripped end of the cable. After that, in the center of the wire, the outer insulation is cut out in an area of 20 mm wide. The braid is removed from it. In the future, it will be necessary to re-insulate this section in order to prevent the cable from breaking during the subsequent bending "steering wheel".

Next, the second end of the cable is stripped. The procedure described at the very beginning is completely repeated here. It is crowned with the installation of the next F-connector. The antenna is almost ready. All that is needed now is to connect the cable "steering wheel" to the different connectors of the splitter. A television cable runs into the remaining free connector. If necessary, it can also be retrofitted to an F-connector. If the antenna suddenly does not work, then the closed end of the antenna cable and the cable to the TV should be swapped on the splitter.
