Many people know that factory floor slabs are laid on ordinary cement mortar, and this does not contradict existing building rules and regulations. On an industrial scale, only a solution is used. As for the construction of private houses, the craftsmen additionally lay slabs on the reinforcement. Experienced builders have gone further - they replace metal rods with wooden slats.

The purpose of this technique is to level all involved slabs to the same height. It will be impossible to achieve such an effect only with a solution. Even if it is applied uniformly by slabs, it is not displaced equally. Small errors, for example, a pebble falling under the slab or its slight displacement leads to uneven overlap in height. One slab will be higher than the other. Even a few millimeters matter. After all, you will have to devote more time to the finishing alignment.

The depth from which the slab rests on the wall should be equal to 120 millimeters. This value is design. In addition to it, there is also a minimum depth indicated in the manufacture of plates in the corresponding TU and GOST, it is 90 mm.

Each mortar based on sand and cement has a shrinkage deformation. During hardening, it gives a certain shrinkage, which depends on the proportions of the components. Typically, shrinkage is eight to fifteen percent, or 1-2 millimeters.

As a result, after the solution has hardened, the panel will be located only on the reinforcement, which is associated with the formation of a gap between the mixture and the overlap. Consequently, the load not only from the slab, but also from the wall, pieces of furniture will fall on this reinforcing bar. There is a risk that the wall will spall. Moreover, the probability of spalling will be higher if the rod is closer to the edge of the wall.

Where compliance with the minimum support indicators is impossible, the reinforcement is replaced with a wooden lath. The slats are compressed under load, accordingly, the most tight fit is ensured over the entire installation area.
