Of the amount of moisture that plants absorb, a small part goes to their growth. Everything else evaporates. Thanks to this, trees and shrubs are not in danger of overheating.
Certain types of trees can absorb up to 900 liters of moisture from the soil every day. To drain the soil on the site, you can plant plants with a high transpiration rate.
The amount of water that plants are able to pump out of the soil
Poplar has the highest transpiration level. It just absorbs about 900 liters of water from the soil every day. Naturally, at their summer cottage, hardly anyone would dare to plant such a massive and bulky tree. But even if it is behind the fence, it will still absorb water from the site. Adult poplars are capable of extracting moisture at a distance of 10 meters from the trunk.
What tree species are suitable for planting on the site:
- 1. Birch - absorbs up to 200 liters of water per day.
- 2. Bird cherry - about 150 - 200 liters.
- 3. Oak - from 250 to 600 liters per day.
- 4. Spruce - up to 300 liters per day.
- 5. Pine - up to 150 liters per day.
- 6. Beech - from 100 to 150 liters.
- 7. Willow and Norway maple - up to 250 liters per day.
Plant a few trees from this list on the site, and you will forget about getting wet.
