Once, wandering through the labyrinths of my memory, I remembered how in childhood I had a toilet bowl "with a shelf." Previously, they were very popular, you could see them in almost every Soviet apartment.
Time has made its own adjustments, changes have even affected the design of toilets. For example, until recently, I had a shallow flush toilet installed. I think your toilet is the same or similar design.
When I was writing this article, naturally, I needed photographs of a toilet "with a shelf". I think that some people will not immediately remember what this plumbing looked like.
I went in search of shelf toilets in construction markets, but then a surprise awaited me. It was only on the fourth try that I found a suitable form of the "white friend".
Fortunately, my search was successful! To your attention the "shelf" toilet, which used to be in all the apartments of the Soviet Union.
What are the advantages of such a design?
- Firstly, during the process, you will not be disturbed by splashes. Agree, it is unpleasant when you relieve yourself, and from below you are sprinkled with cold and not the purest water.
- When faeces fall into the water, bacteria are not scattered. After defecation, you can evaluate the fecal mass in order to draw a conclusion about your own health. After all, the consistency and color of feces can tell a lot.
- If you have to carry feces for analysis, a toilet with a shelf will help you collect samples easily. In such toilets, it is easier to train pets to relieve themselves.
Disadvantages also need to be said.
First, you need to spend more water to wash the stool off the shelf. Secondly, during the act of defecation, very unpleasant odors spread through the toilet.
So that you can see the difference between modern designs, I took this photo:
Modern toilets have certain disadvantages, for example, a gentle slope. The feces are evenly and very ugly smeared on the slope, and therefore work with a brush cannot be avoided.
In the model on the left, the feces fall immediately into the water, so the amount of unpleasant odors is minimal. However, this design gives the largest amount of splashes at the fifth point.
Some people pre-cover the toilet with toilet paper to avoid splashing.
In general, I weighed all the pros and cons, and replaced the modern "white friend" with a toilet with a "shelf" from my childhood!
