Seedling vegetables
The sooner you plant your vegetables, the sooner you can get fresh fruits. However, not every crop can be sown as early as April. The following plants are suitable for this:
- Cabbage. Put cabbage seeds in a cloth or cheesecloth, immerse in warm water for 10-15 minutes, then in cold water for the same amount. After that, set aside for a day so that the seeds swell. In the meantime, prepare the ground. It should be wet, you can fertilize it with ash. Plant the seeds in holes up to 1 cm deep. Sprinkle with earth, cover with plastic and leave warm. As soon as the sprouts appear, remove the film, and place the seedlings in a room with a temperature of up to + 10 ° C.
- Cucumbers. Cover the seeds with brackish water before planting. Those seeds that have surfaced are unsuitable for planting, they must be thrown away. Wrap the rest in damp gauze and leave for 2-3 days. Sprouted seeds are planted in holes up to 3 cm deep.
- Zucchini. When choosing varieties, give preference to zoned ones. To make the seeds germinate faster, warm them up in the sun or on a battery. Then wrap with a damp cloth and place in a warm place. When the seeds hatch, plant them in individual peat pots. So you will not damage the roots when transplanting into the ground.
- Early ripening tomatoes. If you do everything right, you will be able to prepare fresh tomato salads at the beginning of July. Plant the seeds in prepared containers with soil, water and cover with foil. Move the containers to a warm place for 1.5-2 weeks. After that, the film can be removed, and the seedlings can be put on the window.
Seedling flowers
Flower seedlings are planted in April in order to have time to admire the beautiful buds. The following types are suitable for this:
- Cochia. It can be used to frame garden paths, decorate flower beds. For sowing, a tray with a universal soil for flowers is suitable. Sprinkle with sand on top. Cover the tray with plastic and spray from time to time with a spray bottle to keep the soil from drying out. The sprouts will hatch in 10 days.
- Daisy. Looks good both in compositions and in group plantings and around tracks. It blooms from spring to autumn. The seed tray must be kept at a temperature of + 25 ° C. If you do everything right, then in 14-15 days the first shoots will appear.
- Aster. Very loved by flower growers due to the variety of forms, unpretentiousness and long flowering period. For planting seeds, prepare the soil by mixing peat, soil and sand. It takes about a week for the seeds to germinate.
- Amaranth. Tall plant with burgundy, orange and green shoots. Looks very impressive in a flower garden. Place the amaranth seeds in a container with soil and lightly sprinkle with peat. After 20 days, sprouts will appear. So that the amaranth does not die from frost in the open field, harden the seedlings before planting.
By starting to prepare for the summer cottage already in April, you will ensure a good harvest in the garden and excellent flowering in the flower beds.
