Every year more and more weapons appear in the world. Designers and engineers are constantly trying to come up with something new. This applies not only to previously unseen weapons, but also to ammunition for them. A few years ago, the G2R RIP cartridge was created, which is prohibited. From which many citizens should immediately have a question: why make a bullet that will be immediately prohibited and what it is like if this is the attitude towards it.

As you might have guessed, the photo shows the new expansive cartridges. They are called G2R RIP. The model was developed by G2 Research in 2016. They cost $ 2 apiece and are produced under a pistol caliber of 9 mm. Like all expansive ammunition, G2R RIP cartridges are prohibited under international treaties. In order to understand why they are needed at all, one should plunge into history a little.

With the development of rifled firearms in the 19th century, the first cartridges familiar to the eye appeared. At first they had paper "sleeves", and then they became metal. This improvement in the design of the ammunition not only simplified loading and opened up previously inaccessible horizons in the field of creating ammunition elements. The design of the cartridge with a metal sleeve has significantly increased the effectiveness of firearms, including in terms of the damaging effect.

However, the first rifled cartridges were overly powerful. The new shell bullets had an extremely weak damaging and stopping effect. Most often, they led to perforating wounds. As a result, at the end of the 19th century, they came up with the idea to break the shell of the ammunition at its tip so that the soft bullet under the hard shell would splash when it collided with the body and inflict monstrous wounds. However, after the First World War, it was decided to ban expansive bullets for use in hostilities. This state of affairs (at the official level) persists to this day.

Nevertheless, areas of permitted use for ammunition like the G2R RIP still remain. First of all, these are hunting and police operations. Both of these areas are not covered by the conventions for the army. The main feature of G2R RIP is that it not only splashes, but opens like a flower at the moment of collision with an object at high speed. The aggressive profile of the ammunition not only improves its destructive qualities, but also improves its ballistic properties. This is especially important when shooting in a confined space.
