Compost is one of the most popular and cheapest organic fertilizers, which improves the structure of the earth, enriches its composition. Prepared according to all the rules, it contains the bacteria involved in the formation of the fertile layer, as well as the available nutrients.

On any site there is a lot of plants and their waste that are suitable for compost. But in order to get a high-quality fertilizer, you will have to observe several important nuances - from preparing the place to accelerating ripening.
Arrangement of a compost bin
There are a variety of compost bins on sale, they are available in several types and sizes. If desired and possible, they do it on their own. A prerequisite is collapsible walls and free air flow inside. Planks and pallets are ideal building materials. They are pretreated by impregnation from the occurrence of rot on wood.
Wall pallets are connected with reinforcement brackets. This will allow any convenient side to be disassembled and compost taken out if necessary. On a large territory, it makes sense to make several boxes, since there will be a lot of vegetation. While the new ones are just filling, the old ones will have matured ready-made compost.
The boxes are placed on a flat surface with a slight shadow. In the sun, organic matter dries out too quickly, and bacteria hardly multiply in such conditions.
What plants are suitable for compost
Put in the compost:
- peeling potatoes, carrots, peels of other vegetables;
- tops;
- cut grass;
- foliage;
- bread;
- wood ash;
- manure, bird droppings;
- weeds without seeds.
Inorganic objects, glossy paper, meat and fish bones do not decompose in a heap. Also, you can not throw diseased plants there and those that were sprayed with agrochemicals.
At the bottom, drainage is made from pieces of tree branches and shrubs, sawdust. If there is compost from last year, then it is used as an interlayer for fresh organic matter. It already contains the necessary bacteria that will speed up the process. The increased acidity of the substance is neutralized by introducing dolomite flour or ash. Remember to periodically moisturize future fertilizer. Continuous decomposition of plant tissues occurs at a moisture content of 70-80%.
Acceleration of fertilizer ripening
Usually the compost matures for 1-2 years, depending on the filling. To speed up the process, increase the content of nutrients and microorganisms, special preparations are used. They are based on a concentrate of live bacteria and enzymes that quickly break down organic compounds, convert them into humus, and then improve the structure of the soil. Additionally, microorganisms produce substances aimed at suppressing the growth of pathogens in the compost mass.
The eco-friendly preparation "Ekomik dachny" in liquid and dry form has proved itself to be excellent in this quality. Before use, it is bred according to the instructions, and the plants are crushed. For 1 sq. m consume 5 liters of bioaccelerator solution. Layers of organic matter alternate with soil and old compost.
The pile is spilled evenly so that the liquid gets in all directions, especially along the walls. Soak every 20 cm of compost. After that, the box is covered with agrofiber to maintain moisture and protect from the sun. Water and a warm nutrient medium will attract earthworms, which are also involved in the processing of organic matter.
Thanks to the accelerator, the compost will be ready in 2-4 months, and in the first, its coarse form will be formed. Fertilizer is applied to the garden 2-3 weeks before planting or sowing. In the fall, they dig up the area along with the compost.
