For a long time, we had a large and heavy cast-iron bathtub in our bathroom. When we started the renovation, we decided to dismantle the bathtub and put a modern, beautiful, stylish shower stall in its place.
But now 2 years have passed, and we are already asleep and see how we will get rid of this hated cubicle. In today's article, I decided to share with you my negative experience of using the shower stall. Maybe you are just planning a renovation in the bathroom, and this information will help you not to make gross mistakes.
First of all, I want to touch on the topic of dismantling a bulky cast-iron bath. She was literally walled up in the wall. To detach this "monster" and take it out of the apartment, I spent a lot of time and effort. I generally keep quiet about the nerves, they took the most!
The process of pulling the bath out of the apartment will be a long dream for me in terrible dreams. At some point, I was almost crushed by this cast-iron work of art. But I will not go into details, let's get to the essence of the article.
After laying the tiles in the bathroom, we moved on to installing a brand new shower stall. I decided to call not specialists, but two good friends to deliver this innovative invention. A couple of days later, the booth stood in its rightful place. It's time for a trial run.
I turned on the water and was horrified to realize that it poured both from the mixer and from the cracks of the booth. "It was necessary to seal the seams!" - a brilliant idea came to my mind, though with a delay. To fix everything, I spent a few more days and two tubes of sealant.
Anyway. Who doesn't make mistakes? When the sealant froze, I again decided to test run the booth. Now I was not satisfied with the water pressure, which was very weak. As it turned out, our mixer has narrow holes, and therefore you can forget about the normal pressure. As a result, every bath becomes a challenge, as you have to constantly adjust the temperature of the water.
But these are all flowers, let's move on to the berries!
- The wife has much fewer problems with washing, since she ideally fits the dimensions of the booth. But it's hard for me to squeeze into this space.
- After each bathing, drops of water naturally remain on the glass of the booth, which eventually form a plaque.
- Six months later, I had to change the door rollers because the old ones broke.
- The whole structure turned out to be shaky, in contrast to the cast-iron bathtub, which also causes a lot of inconvenience. No matter how I tried to install it steadily, it still staggered slightly.
But it was possible to avoid all these unnecessary problems and "troubles"... Now we regret that we did not restore the cast-iron bath, but were led to innovations, but it's too late.
I hope my experience is useful to you and allows you to avoid such mistakes in life!
