Gardeners use salt as a budget and natural tomato feed. A properly prepared saline solution speeds up the ripening process, gives the fruit sweetness and protects against insects, and makes the plant resistant to diseases.

Application

Table salt should be used with care, even though it is a completely sustainable product. It is best to process the beds in the morning or evening, when the sun is not at its zenith, so as not to harm the leaves. The solution is used no more than once a week. If the gardener is faced with the task of increasing the yield, then fertilizer is applied under the bush, and to protect against pests, it is enough to spray the stems and leaves. The salt covers them with a thin film, which prevents pests from penetrating.

A small amount of soap is added to enhance the effect. Saline treatment reduces the risk of late blight.

Note: it is recommended to filter the salt solution before processing to remove undissolved crystals.

If the tomatoes are already affected by late blight, the diseased parts of the plant should be removed first.

Watering with a salt composition once every three weeks will help improve the taste of the fruit. This top dressing is only suitable for bushes that have six or more formed leaves.

Rock salt fertilizer recipes

In addition to water and sodium chloride itself or laundry soap, ash can also be included in the composition. The recipe changes depending on the effect you want to achieve.

Prevention or treatment of late blight

The resulting composition is filtered and sprayed on the affected bushes every 30 days.

Pros and cons of salt fertilization

With a different approach to the feeding process, the saline solution can not only benefit, but also harm. The positive qualities include:

  1. An increase in the sugar content in fruits, which affects the palatability.
  2. Protection against the development of fungi and pests.
  3. Availability is the main component - salt is in every kitchen and is cheap.
  4. Safety for the human body.

Failure to comply with fertilization technology can lead to acidification of the soil, which in turn is a favorable condition for attracting a root-eater. In addition, the balance of nutrients is disturbed, and this does not contribute to high yields.

Sodium chloride depletes the soil, so compost (3 buckets per sq. m). Otherwise, it threatens future plantings with chlorosis.
